I am really tired. My back is very sore. My hands (which get dry and split in awful spots) are quite painful. The new boarder has a nice clean space to live in. She is safe from a bully, and has her TV and her dog. I've had some hilarious moments today trying to prevent Lucy, my hound, from biting anyone.

The prospect of making myself dinner feels daunting. However, there's fresh rapini, garlic, a big scallop, three shrimps and some fish waiting to be turned into a braised masterpiece.
Sounds like a good dinner is in the making. A glass of wine might be in order . . . hope you feel better soon!

What happened to your back, @BetteTheRed .
Is the boarder new to your place? If so, how does Lucy get along with the boarder's dog?

Back doesn't agree with moving lots of crap around. I have moved two carfuls of stuff to Value Village and the local "anything with a cord" metal recycler. I also moved 10 full bins of sorted crap (like fabric and yarn and books and art supplies) from downstairs to up and probably pitched 10 bags of garbage out the back door...

I've often had a boarder downstairs in my old bed-sitting room to supplement my income (pay the damned expensive property taxes). It was vacated in November by my daughter's now ex-boyfriend, who was not terribly clean in his habits. There's a really solid door between upstairs and down with a hole cut into it for cat access. Lucy doesn't usually like other dogs, but Lizzy (the boarder's boxer) is a super nervous quiet gentle 9 year old thing who doesn't even walk on a lead (she's that tame/timid/attached to mom and mom's brother). There's a little "side yard" from the back door where she can hang out, and it's separated from Lucy's back yard.

Wow, congratulations on the purging @BetteTheRed . Sorry about the back, but wow, that is a lot.
Was it all from the ex-boyrfriend, or are you making progress elsewhere.

We are working on the attic in our old home, and making progress. A bunch of sStuff is sorted for our use, family use, give away to other orgs, give away to other place, recycle, dump.

I'm making progress elsewhere, but it's slow. I'm pretty careful about making sure that as little as possible goes to the landfill, so I separate out old blankets and sleeping bags for the dog rescue team, etc. Too many people have lived in this house. But I'm done for the night.

Ha ha ha. I saw this post before you edited it. I was seriously wondering what a braided masterpiece might be.

I found it exhausting to name that no one (including myself) wanted much of my parents items.
I recognize that I am holding onto things which are not my taste but were given to me by my children and not sure how to bridge that conversation.

I have a hall stand which I don't really like and have no room for. But my mom loved it so I agreed to take it when my parents moved out of their house. It is not an antique but it is solid oak. My youngest daughter is going to take it & *gasp* paint it. I am very pleased she wants it and hope mom forgives us from heaven for the paint. :)

And stuff goes in and out of fashion. My mother was a great "Hummel" collector. Also cross and olive crystal; got rid of that to sister.

Our neighbour "J" knocked on the door. He wasn't happy.
Well, he wasn't happy in a humorous way.

My husband "K" gets up early in the morning.
For the last two snowfalls, he has gone out, and blown the snow from our driveway and as part of that, did the entrance to the neighbours as well.

"J" was concerned that "K" was always doing the snowblowing, and felt bad that J hadn't had a chance.
He said to K to leave it tomorrow and he will do it all, including our full driveway when he gets home.

lol, not sure what is up but I have never had a neighbour come to say "hey, you are working to hard doing our work"

Yours, too, eh? Mom had a big collection of them. Even got a book on how to value them. Not sure who ended up with them other than it wasn't me. We did get her souvenir spoons, though, and one rack of them still hangs in our dining room to this day.

My grandmother (mother's mother) used to have a small collection of them too. They're now in someone else's hands - but I don't know whose. There used to be a lot of antiques in the farmhouse my mom lives in in summer months. Over the years, those antiques have been parcelled out to my cousins and siblings.

@Tabitha , we understand that, just funny. He absolutely did stuff when we were first moving in, and I am sure there will be lots of time over. Just funny.

For me it isn't the 'big' things that clutter up the house. We don't have any valuable furniture anyway. My weakness is - drawers and cupboards. They are stuffed, despite being de-cluttered several times in recent years. I have a tendency to look at something and shove it into a convenient drawer or cupboard to deal with at another time!

Hope your muscles are feeling better this morning, @BetteTheRed .

We are looking at some cold weather and snow over the next few days. Thinking of those in the deep freeze areas as our cold is not as cold as yours.

Putting on a fire, curling up with a good book, maybe some music.

Supposed to be a nice dump coming our way later today. 10-15cm in London, more North and East of here. Supposed to hit in time for rush hour, too, which isn't exactly a treat in this city to start with. Oh well, I had some practice runs with the shovel on the weekend. Guess I'm ready for the real thing. I'd love to say I'd miss the white stuff if I moved South but ... nah. Maybe if I lived in a complex of some kind where someone else did the snow clearing, my attitude would change though. There some nice detached and townhouse condos just up from me and they have a private plow outfit clear the drives for the detached ones.
