Bringing eggnogg made by our local cheese and milk factory. Its the only eggnog I feel worth drinking. Perfectly rich, sweet and with just the right amount of nutmeg.
My friend used to make a killer nog for his family's Christmas Eve parties. Spiked it a bit, IIRC, but maybe the rum was on the side.

Wow, we got a lot of snow and it is heavy, too. Took basically an hour to clear the driveway. Kind of glad we didn't have plans to go anywhere. Have to do Chinese groceries and a curbside pickup at Wal-Mart tomorrow, though. I both hope for, and dread, the plow.

Lots of snow here too. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. For us, it was totally calm and relaxing. Quite perfect. Turkey is ready, potatoes are mashed so bring your plates. We are serving as soon as hubby gets back from walking the dog

we have had a very lazy christmas day, and i , like you, lastpointe, am kind of enjoying it.
We had finger foods for dinner, having had my husband's very rich breakfast.

He's settled into watching an old movie "bridge over the river kwai", youngest is reading, as am I.

The snow is beautiful outside. The dog is snoring.

I attended a zoom church service and a family zoom party last night. It was fun. We have a few musical people in the family who sang and played piano. Fun to see everyone in their own living rooms - a couple of which I've never been to. Today opened presents with my mom and step dad, distanced, with masks on. Earlier this morning, exchanged texts and photos for a family secret Santa draw we had, on my dad's side. It does feel like Christmas after-all!

(In case you missed it in last post - cheers!)

Well, the weather has disrupted my little Christmas plans. My sister is almost an hour north of me, on Georgian Bay. We were to have made a joint Xmas dinner tomorrow at her place. A possibility of 6" of snow, possibly a bit more up there, makes travelling tomorrow seem unwise. We've rescheduled for Sunday.
Sorry to hear that. At least you rescheduled.

Joy and memories. Grateful for what is in our lives, but mindful of the losses. Hugs to all who are feeling some version of pain over this season. I sang in our Christmas Eve service, and watched it on Facebook when I got home. We did okay. But the feeling of singing with a group that is like family to me is a real Christmas present to me. My husband seems to be suffering a bit of a depression, and nothing I do or say seems to help. So, this little bit of outside-the-house joy is just what the doctor ordered.
Sorry to hear that your husband is depressed, Nancy. I'm glad you had a little bit of joy in your day!

My uncle, Mom's younger brother, died on Christmas Eve while we were at his place (we usually got together with his family after church on Christmas Eve since we had dinner with Dad's family on Christmas Day). Definitely made for a rough Christmas that year. Hit our church pretty hard, too. He hadn't been a churchgoer when he was single and living with us, but after he got married he joined and became treasurer (his day job was bookkeeping). Death and grief are definitely not compatible with Christmas.
I was grateful to have had Blue Christmas services to attend in the past, for the similar reasons.

Good morning, all! Happy Boxing Day. Also Happy St. Stephen's Day. The coffee cart is ready, for those who take a break from digging out from under the snow. Enjoy.

The challenge of the day ... to learn what's outside our bean ... box Din ... Schrodinger's enigma ...

Much reading into it required ... tis not superficial as some fascist radicals claim! Many more dimensions ... in degrees of magnitude (đousands mon, or bi 1000's). Extends to everything, all, Pan? Expect stretches and alien strains ...

Happy Boxing Day, and belated Merry Christmas to all. My husband rallied yesterday and we had a very nice day. A highlight was watching the grandkids open their gifts over FaceTime. There sure are a lot of toys/games that didn't exist back when I was a kid. Mygreat- niece though got a 'magic 8-ball' and her whole family got a crokinole board. Whew...things I recognize!

Yays, the plow finally came. Time to shovel. Only the odd light flurry now so we seem to be done.

Yes, it looks like my plans for a delayed Christmas dinner will come to fruition (I did the sides of the driveway mid-day plus front porch, so it will do). Turkey breasts are thawing, ready for an overnight salt/herb rub, challah buns are proofing stage one (had to run to a neighbour's for yeast, lol; thank godde for Local "Being Neighbourly" FB groups), cranberry sauce made, stuff for gravy put together, etc. (there's going to be a Christmas pudding, also roasted beets and special mashed potatoes, a bottle of non-alcoholic wine), and the sister is providing space, dishwasher, her very special braised brussel sprouts, stuffing and salad.

Good morning, all! Coffee and tea time again! Come and get it!
As this part of the world continues in its first weekend of lockdown, let us hope ad pray it has its desired effect.

We are all confined as th Cat in th'at ... being the restrictions given by the rich and powerful to ensure their growth until they become unhinged and explode!

What does it take to be cognizant of good, bad, ugly and subtle booty ... understood? The bulk (mass) can't see the immaterial ... as a dark energy!

sounds like a delightful meal, Bette

It was indeed, and we did our little gift exchange. I now have a hand crocheted ear saver that is different from any I've seen, in that it has pony-tail space in the middle to help anchor it; what a cool idea! Also a new dishcloth made from hemp linen, which has anti-microbial properties not possessed by cotton, and the most adorable cloche hat in a bright rainbow self-patterning yarn!

And the dinner (cooking is my specialty, as knitting is hers), was most excellent. Moist tender turkey, gravy, perfect sides, homemade cranberry orange sauce, challah buns delivered perfectly risen and baked on site just before turkey went in. There was pudding, but I was too full, and needed to make it home before dark (it's a longish drive on some interesting roads).
