@Carolla , somewhere Carolla asked if there had been an out door wedding at the gazebo.

Today was it. Cool, windy, spurts of sun. About 50 people. No one hardly chose to wear

a shawl. Poor them. Periodically freezing. Very nice wedding. Bride wore long with some

sparkly at back. kind of off white. BUT, three brides maids wore, long, white plain tops and

sparkly , shimmery, lame type gold. made my eyes roll. what's to come for rest of summer?

Ah Crazyheart - we older folks will probably never understand the younger ones. I (and probably you) would always have a back up plan for an outside wedding, especially at this time of year. Heck, it could have been snowing!

A few people showed up for my kids' weddings wearing dirty jeans and t-shirts.

One bride wore a VERY revealing dress of bright red, shiny satin. One bride made her own white lace dress but didn't get it finished. She happily stood on a chair while her bridesmaids turned up the hem with duct tape.

Some days I think my mum wasted her time and breath trying to teach me 'manners, tradition and decorum'. Nobody cares anymore whether shoes match handbags, for example.

I had a great day today. A friend helped me by picking up a load of wood chips (1.5 cubic yards) & delivering them in her trailer this morning - hooray - now I will have a job ahead to unload them all into the garden. I use them along the fence-line, so the garden does not grow right up to the fence & they were badly in need in replenishing. My handyman mate has finished 'butressing' the fence posts that were cracked by the windstorm last weekend - so timing is great!

My son arrived to spend some mother's day time with me :-) After enjoying lunch with my friend we walked down to the river & the arena for Vegfest - first year here. Lots of great exhibitors and delicious foods! We wandered and chatted, and ate ... and then when we came outside the sun was shining brilliantly for the walk homeward. We enjoyed some sparkling French wine when we got home, which was a lovely treat. :-)

My mate made some delish BBQ burgers & fries for us for supper - nothing says 'summer' like BBQ burgers on a Saturday! Had some discussion with my men re tablets, notebook computers etc - which is what they'd like to get me for my birthday/retirement gift. Hard to choose. More research to come ...

I do feel blessed to spend such a lovely day together with friends and family.

Flooding I am fine. The creek I am on is controlled by a dam-that reservoir is the towns water supply. Creek at my house is 6 feet below its banks and then would need to cross my lawn.
That said the flooding this year is very different from last year. Early foods have been in areas impacted by forest firs last summer. Ash does not absorb water and trees hold soil in place-so the rushing rivers have lots of debris in them.
The debris closed a bridge on mainstreet for a few days. The tumbling rocks plugged the culvert.
The flooding started south of us this year. last year it was the lake north of us that rose about 10 feet.
One collateral damage is a "kettle" lake without a natural outflow. Last year it was pumped to lower levels-but the area it was pumped to is already in flood this year.

They say worst flood since 1948.
Now the "disaster and state of emergency" declarations are so that municipal and provincial workers can access streams on private property without needing permission.

Glad to hear you are dry Tabitha. Sounds pretty bad in some areas around you. Those forest fires have such long lasting impact.

Bit of a strange Mother's Day here. With Mrs. M and Little M both gone, i barely noticed it. Then add in the fact two important people in my life, my best friend and my boss, lost their mothers this past week and it kind of puts a different perspective on things.

Anyhow, all my best wishes to all the mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers (do we have any?) of Wondercafe2. Whether it's a day for celebration or reflection, I hope you have a good one.

Happy Mother’s Day to my kids grandmas (Patti too!) thanks for being such great grandparents for my little gals! Here’s what I made to represent the 4 generations!
