As I went to write this post, I wondered -- politics or "the Earth and Our World.

I chose this forum primarily due to his work with AIDS.

His was a life well lived, with much good for society.
I am sure there will be posts in politics, especially related to the NDP party; however, for me, it's more about his impact.

He was quite a guy. I knew him more as UN ambassador and then his various projects, including the AIDS work, after that. His time as NDP leader in Ontario was before my time as a political person (he was leader when I was 5 to 13). And I don't think you need to be a fan of the NDP to recognize his accomplishments. After all, it was a Conservative PM (Mulroney) who made him ambassador.

Sad that he passed so soon after his son's success on the weekend, but glad that he lived (barely) long enough to see another generation of Lewises carry on the torch. Apparently even his grandfather (David Lewis' father) was a labour activist in both Poland and Canada so they're up to four generations now.

I have always been amazed at how much good he did in the world.

But did it impress those that didn't wish to know ... or perhaps just suffered and un-knowing event ... and thus it wends ... down the hole with winners ... cards of a particulate type ... pixels? Black spots ...
