Regional Rep

The EOORC works with deep commitment on promoting church wellness and growth. The regional rep for a church I supervise is now the chair of the board. The stewardship member of the board was heavily involved in regional stewardship work. The pastoral care leader participates in Regional pastoral care workshops.

In my experience, most church members are just interested in their congregation. In multipoint charges there is a variable level of interest in the other points.

People are generally conservative (try to conserve their time, energy, and resources), and reluctant to reach or go farther than necessary to satisfy their wants.

And I think that applies outside churches, too. There's an activist personality type that ends up doing a lot of the work (and, dare I say, wielding a lot of the power) because of this. And I guess there's people in the middle who act but staying within areas of personal interest and expertise, which is kind of me. I chaired worship and acted as a volunteer IT consultant in my UU fellowship but turned down a seat on the board a couple times.
