I discovered that they do other cool things, like invite a random young person up on stage to play the guitar at many of their concerts (I guess they usually scout out a fan who says they can play), then they give them the guitar to keep. A couple of kids they invited up were really good, and they were having “the time of their lives”, no pun intended. At one concert, they invited a young woman with a developmental disability up, and Billy Joe taught her/ helped her play. Billy Joe Armstrong seems like a class act, a good guy among rock stars...he’s confident and comes off as having rock star arrogance on stage, but he’s actually a really nice, really intelligent person when you listen to his interviews. They’re probably my favourite band still around today, and they’ve still “got it”. It helps that they’ve aged well - they’re around my age so they’re doing well! Billy Joe has a son who’s a drummer in Blink 182, I think - and is the same age now as when GD started. He looks the same age as his dad almost, because his dad seems so young. It’s incredible.
