Peruse the News?

WE do still get the local paper. Many times I wonder why because it seems to be little more than a glorified flyer delivery mechanism. My preference is that it wold drop much of the non-local news and focus on being almost exclusively a source for local news--because all the non-local news and advice columns and entertainment stuff can be gleaned easily otherwise. Then once in a while I make the mistake of reading the opinion page...

Consider how many people do not consider the news at all ... as it is wielded so strongly by the physically preferred ...

And then many cannot stand to hear what humanity does to the larger bode an ... of itself?

The lost collective sense ... or social concern?
I have to take breaks from it. I must admit I feel much better if I haven't followed the news for a week.

There is a certain power of contained rage that could be considered backward steps ... getting ready for the run at the evil part ...

I like to remain reasonably current with events without being frightened or distracted. I find CBC good for that. There's a main page I can check for excitement that I've missed, and I listen to Radio 2 all day on the computer, Radio 1 when I'm in the car, so I hear the hourly news a few times a day. I have a tendency to keep my space silent if I'm distressed anyway. I think I would find it upsetting to be cut off from CBC; I certainly don't WATCH any news.

I'm too cynical to get depressed or frightened by the news anymore. I'm at the stage of just sighing and going on about the business of living. Occasionally get royally pissed off, but even then it's more eye-rolling pissed off than screaming tantrum pissed off.

Of course, the downside of that is that I don't get much joy out of the news either. For instance, all the jubilation around Trudeau's victory completely escaped me because I've lived through enough Liberal governments to know this isn't going to be the revolution people expected.

If I want uplifting news, I head to a good astronomy or other science blog and catch up on our exploration of the universe. Much more interesting, enlightening, and cheery than anything in the current events pages.

I don't as much as I used to, but it still happens, brings me down. I try not to get over-excited by bits of positive news, also.

How early eighties. Look at the jewelry. Where were they when I was in grade 5? Miniature food jewelry that looked real was all the rage. I had a pb & j on toast pin that I wore pinned to my rainbow sweatshirt...with my socks with sliced limes on them.

Is the news as presented by corporate owners kind of biased or just intellectual chaos fro those not far from emotional chaos as they lost their soul at that thin line ? It is something that should be red ... like the red diamond star ... one foot into another domain ... the 6'th? Thus it was s(eth) in oral tradition ... another myth afloat ...
