Announced today they saw spread in school, but downplaying it as similar to what was seen earlier. I feel like it's a bit early to conclude, but hopefully that is the case and the variants don't behave any worse than the original.

We have Covid showing up in the schools in Ontario already and they've only been back since last Monday.
Our alert level will change next Tuesday to red or orange.
Now they're debating keeping the schools open for March break in Ontario....some parents are livid about this....they think the kids need the break. I thought it was more about catching up with the work theyve been missing but it doesnt appear so. And this after complaining that the online learning was not good for everyone.
To be honest I personally think when the numbers start to go down they should just wait another month to reopen things, but they dont, they reopen as soon as the numbers drop and wonder why the death count and hospitalizations starts to rise again. Without the vaccine , its all they got.

i am surprised parents are upset, I mean flights are cancelled. but I suppose people were going skiing and had booked hotels??

Those going green maybe....but not everyone in Ontario will have that freedom.
 
Studies in Germany have shown that two large Anti- Mask demonstrations in Leipzig and Berlin in November were super spreader events and led to 16 000-21000 more infections. ( which , of course, doesn’t surprise). The way they researched it is interesting. A lot of the demo participants came in busses organized by an anti- masker. They compared the incidences 10-12 days after the demos in the towns where there was a bus stop of those busses with the incidences in the area around them without bus stops. Other than here, most people would use bus or train transportation. However, trains have mandatory masking, so people have been using those bus companies more.

I don't understand how they are making the arguments here. All positive cases here are being sequenced, and that has been going on for a little while. If variants were spreading before the cases occurring now wouldn't just revert back so quickly with mutations. Since not all variants can be traced to travel, it's possible there were some not discovered and lead to a a bit of spreading, but currently it's a very small minority of cases overall. There may have also been cases where it stopped with the person/their family so isn't circulating now as it simply didn't continue to get passed on, although that's not really a concern but would be useful to get the data for better understanding of the virus in general.

We must carry away there are no responsibilities in this world as the common people do not know enough to lead and the bosses will not accept the accounting ... only the income!
 
So Trudeau is asserting that he will have enough vaccines by September. That is his usual statement. But that is appalling. Europe will be done. USA will be done by June. Croatia is mostly done This is not big news or good news
 
The country should be destroyed ... it all appears corrupt if you listen to both sides of the opinion. Sounds like impeachment from either side as there are no psyche mediums (thinking powers).

Thus the damn thing descends upon us ... an onus?

If none is responsible ... imagine ... Thank God few understands still ... and thus we are supported by turbulence ...

As always I am impressed by human insanity and thus conform ...
 
As we watch the country start to lift restrictions, at the same time variants are running wild and there are no vaccines I wonder where we will be in a month ? Back where we started?

I was at my local LCBO yesterday. It was pretty busy, again, forgetting it was Friday!

but they were checking postal codes. Now they do that occasionally. So does the grocery store. I guess attempting to figure out shopping habits..... but I heard the woman in front of me give a Toronto code and the man beside her the same

I asked my cashier if they are getting lots of Toronto postal codes. Of course they were she aid, or people would say. Oh I don’t know the postal code up here. Duh. That’s because in the lock down you were supposed to stay in your home

our neighbors rented their house out for the winter. Seems like a nice family. One son, a dog. from Toronto. they Have lived here since mid December , which seems fine. Except that every weekend they have company. And we wonder how things spread
 
So London is headed back into red zone on Tuesday. So less restrictions than current but still pretty tight. Only 10 diners allowed at a time in restaurants. When I was picking up my Chinese New Year dinner yesterday at my local Viet-Thai place, the guy handing out orders was saying to a customer ahead of me that that isn't even enough for them to bother opening the dining room. They have been pickup-only all through, I think, even when restrictions here were fairly low last summer-fall.
 
Ten diners? We've had open dining rooms since the end of May or so. Six diners is the limit. Now it's supposed to be only from one household. We've had no problems. Going from no dining room to 10 at a table seems unwise.

London is going to the second highest level on Ontario's scale when we exit "stay at home" due to our current case stats. There is actually a level above us on the colour scale, grey, which is closer to the full "stay at home" that we are leaving. Hence the jump from none to 10. Areas that go into grey when their "stay at home" is lifted will have less of a jump.

Ontario system: Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, Grey

We actually have three smaller regions in Eastern Ontario going to Green. They probably shouldn't have been included in the "stay at home" to start with save that they have problems with people from nearby cities like Ottawa going there to shop if the city is locked down tighter than they are. Similar to the problems Lastpointe's area has with people from the GTA.

we will be yellow again. Up to ten people can visit supposedly. But I have visited with anyone so doesn’t really matter. Kids are still in lock down.

I understand the need to loosen things up. And I am in favour of stores choosing to open. With rules. Restaurants choosing to open. but We know we will see a uptick as people stop keeping apart and stop wearing masks. Tricky situation without vaccines

our local hospital has told staff that they will all be done, once our county gets more vaccines. LTC has been done

but it will be a long time. Logically hot spots should get any vaccines that we eventually get

Yep. So if you have two parties of five booked or whatever, you're done, hence not being worth opening. We mostly get takeout from them anyhow, even before COVID. We haven't eaten in there in a long time.
