In a positive note, across Canada infections and deaths are down. Our county, health unit lists 140,000 people, has no new cases, and only 20 active cases.
bad new? No vaccines and ski hills are opening so the weekend visitors will be arriving. Means back to being unsafe to go to the grocery store

Yesterday here was announced 196 I think was the specific number. First time we were under 200 in a long time. Schools opening has gone well through Jan. I am concerned though restaurants are allowing dine in and gyms can do 1 on 1 plus group sports and activities for 18 and under. I thought it was weird it's not under 18 - so adults for 1 year are ok.

London has been much improved of late. However, as @Lastpointe pointed out, we are going to start limited re-opening next week and Boler Mountain (more like Boler Big Hill, but I digress) will be opening. Funny thing is, they figured they were done for the season and refunded all their annual passes.

I grew up near the Bolar Mountain. Back in those days it was called a ski hill. It's colloquially known as Boler Bump in some circles. It's hysterical to me that anything in Byron would be considered a mountain. 
I was happy to learn that an outbreak where my father lives is considered ended.
Things are improving here in this province. Unfortunately most of the island cases are in this area. I'm hoping the numbers are skewed by an outbreak that happened in a small community near here. That outbreak has been contained apparently.

Yep. My son learned to ski there so I've heard that nickname.
Fixed yer typo.It's hysterical to me that anything inByronLondon would be considered a mountain.
There's nothing even vaguely resembling a mountain around here.
I do agree, there is nothing resembling a mountain in the London areaCDC is still recommending masks of course, but now they're also recommending mask fitters to hold the sides firmly against our faces with the masks that don't do this.

I hope that doesn't become required. My my eczema flares I cannot see that working well, especially for longer periods and with talking. Elastic and fabric is much more forgiving. It also doesn't look the simplest for taking on and off although haven't actually handled one in person.CDC is still recommending masks of course, but now they're also recommending mask fitters to hold the sides firmly against our faces with the masks that don't do this.
Just a recommendation as far as I can see....probably would help with glasses not fogging up, not to mention keeping the virus from getting behind the mask.

Yeah, things can change though, hopefully things get/stay controlled before most people get vaccinated. If variants start to spread though I could see more stricter masking rules happen. Although why should I be concerned that way, I'm in the province last to adopt them in the first place!
I could see hospitals stepping that up sooner though. Not something I would care to wear during an MRi, a long appointment, etc. I wish they would allow the fabric masks though, they don't and I think my fabric ones offer better protection due to fit.

I got a set of new mask brackets, a different design, from 4ocean, a company that reclaims plastic from the ocean. I like the way they make a cotton mask fit. 4 of them for $20 USD plus shipping. Got here in less than 2 weeks.

With cases being lower, they are sequencing most of the positive tests now.
Announced today they saw spread in school, but downplaying it as similar to what was seen earlier. I feel like it's a bit early to conclude, but hopefully that is the case and the variants don't behave any worse than the original.
