They needed to not cancel the pandemic awareness group, they needed to let scientists provide advice, not political bureaucrats, they needed to deal with travel issues, they needed to shut down last March, not now,

if I hear one more liberal shill say. We are being very clear. I am going to scream

they needed to get the army medical people into hospitals and long term care. They needed to provide money and orsonal. They needed to stop people flying into Canada. From Africa, the uk , the USA.
trudeau is a weak leader who banks on people liking him for being cool. He has sentenced a lot of Canadians to death. From January on. They knew something was a miss, they were openly saying,don’t worry , the chances if this coming here is slim, while not stopping flights

*sigh* I do feel like schools are more than a risk that is being let on. Some of the reasons I mentioned earlier about other behaviours not at school. I think there may be more spread within schools than what is actually recognized too (like many places). Kids can be in a classroom with others who have tested positive without meeting the criteria to be tested themselves (desks too far away).

Personally, makes me uncomfortable with Chemguy at work with people who have kids, me going to appointments and being around others who have kids in school, etc.
 
Schools here in London go back on Monday. Not sure what criteria they are using to make that decision. The GTA are still off until mid-February barring another change.

They have been back since the 11th here, although 1 of the high schools that kids in this area would go to (we don't actually have a high school nearby) is set to online learning as the number of cases in the school was too high.

Restaurants (in-dining) and gyms (1-1 no classes) are scheduled to open up on the 8th, although it's based on hospital numbers so could end up delayed.
 
To be or not to be in the know of what is moderate and mean and what is naught? Expect dissociated radicals from social orderings ...
 
There are not too many happy stories coming out of the pandemic, but here's one. A 100 year-old British veteran raised 33 million pounds doing a "walk-a-thon" in his backyard early in the pandemic. On Friday, he became a knight, getting tapped on the shoulder by the queen using her father's sword. That's the kind of knight we need today, I think.

So, we've got a tent set up at our local hospital, to contain patients who are COVID-free. My boarder, who is battling some serious infection issues, has been moved to it, as she's COVID-free, at least presently. She's not very articulate at texting, but her friend was over to pay her rent this afternoon, and I got the update from her. Apparently it's warmer than the main hospital, which is reassuring, because it's damned cold out there. There's COVID in the stroke rehab unit, and the old guy has it. And although I talked to him yesterday, no answer today, and his voice mailbox is still full.
 
An in-law in-law died today. She was someone who was part of many of Chemguys family get togethers and is the last relative he had that he would see 2 generations before us. I hope there will be an online option for a funeral. Her number of closely related relatives is small so they can all be present for a funeral but she was family to us too even if not in a way typically reflected on a family tree.

he was advocating for a complete lockdown early on. Shut it down. Shut business down. Keep it down. Don't let any planes in without mandatory quarantine, and so on.

i said, Canadians would not stand for it. There are limits to what we will do or accept. Plus, we have the US border, and the Amazon purchases that flow across that border. At the time when he wanted it, shucks, most people couldn't spell the virus, let alone accept a full shutdown.

Since then, he has had nothing but criticism, and blames the government for every death that has occurred.

I get some of that, but, I also know there are folks who truly do not believe that we should even have to wear masks. Churches that won't practice the 10 person limit. Restaurants that open up despite.

Yet, I also read Rita's posts and know that there are huge extremes.
