Apparently Russia and China are major markets. They, of course, have Siberia and Mongolia to contend with. Natural fur/skin is warm. Look at Inuit protection.

Minks, pangolins, bats, have all been implicated. People encroaching on the wild, or trying to manipulate it for profit.

Pet dogs and cats (or just cats?) can get it too. Can they pass it to humans?

(Okay I just looked it up. There have been pet dogs and cats who contracted it, likely from humans who were infected. There's no evidence that they can give it to humans.)
 
I'm allowed to visit my mom and step-dad. I already work on the computer in their spare room and have since the spring, but never go upstairs. I'm the only one in their bubble.

At my place (suite in stepbrother's place) I'm currently alone. Have been for a few months. Was supposed to be getting another roommate in January but I don't know if that's on hold or not.

I'm asking my landlords not to do laundry when I'm home so we can't bump into each other. Also, to come in with freshly cleaned hands (they have to cross through part of my space to get to the laundry room, and I'm never quite sure how vigilant they are - it bothers me, and I want to make sure that's clear) ... and I'm wiping door handles and light switches.

They were in my bubble. I was going to have them downstairs for a little breakfast - maybe something like cinnamon buns and coffee and mandarin oranges - nothing fancy. And we were going to do stockings - just odds n' ends and cheap trinkets. Again, nothing fancy. Just for fun. But I don't think we can, because now my priority is maintaining my "me+2" bubble with ( only 2 out of 4 of) my parents, especially since I also work there.

Hell has frozen over. I have agreed with PG-13. If you live in a house with people, you share air, and this virus is airborne. Thus, I consider my boarders to be in my bubble, despite the fact that we rarely interact. I did consider going from my usual $10 furnace filters (which I change monthly) to fancy $30 ones, but I wasn't convinced that tripling the price of furnace filters for months on end was going to save anyone from anything. My stand alone air filter, which is upstairs, but I'm not using at present, might be a good thing to bring down and dust off.
 
The local schools are demanding masks all the time on everyone in the buildings. I long ago made my youngest grand a couple of masks to save the parents the cost of buying them. Daughter in law said it would be handy to have more and some for herself. She and the little guy came over to help. The kid now had six masks. With the news from the school it was obvious more were needed - remove bus mask for a school one - remove it after recess as it is damp and put on a fresh one - remove it to have dinner and put on a fresh one..............I made three masks yesterday and another five today. Hoping that is enough!

Do you add the third polpropylene layer to your home made masks or use polypropylene material Kay?
I ask because the Marketplace tests showed the masks made with regular cottons are not effective.

Well, that’s not quite true. See details below. It depends on the fabric.


I usually just keep my medical mask for the rest of the day from work, but I have sewn a couple of cotton ones, and left an opening for inserting a piece of paper towel in between, which I believe also adds a filter.

I guess I just assumed she would want to make one of the products at the top.....but I shouldn't assume. I stand corrected.
 
I feel pretty confident with a two layer quilting cotton (high thread count) fitted mask with a nose wire (and a mask bracket for long-term wearing). Some also need some adjustment to the ear loops using an ear saver. My two current faves also have room for an additional filtration level (like a coffee filter, a piece of non-woven polypropylene), as warranted.
 
Well we're back to similar restrictions to the spring with the exception of outdoor rec being allowed and household cohorts not allow with the exception of singles (living alone) and single parents (adult, multiple kids) being allowed 2 extra people allowed in their cohort. Masks mandatory across the province. There may be some other differences but those are the ones I'm picking up on.

Well what about the farmers? Oh wait ... farms are exempt Kenney could have done that months ago. He pandered to his rural base way too much and went on about how in Canada Alberta was the first to encourage voluntary mask use.
