Still though, what's the difference between 1 person shopping without a mask and people in a shared space eating?

The difference is that you eat with the people you know. Restaurants often have walls between tables. Mask have to be work if not sitting at your table. And Ihaven’t done any eat in since covid began and I wouldn’t recommend eating in to anybody who has health issues he can’t wear a mask.
 
I look at all these comparisons as a way to decide how to behave in order to keep myself safe. I haven't been to a restaurant for a meal all year. I don't intend to go for a while yet. I do go grocery shopping. I wear a mask although that is challenging for me. I have learned to shop as quickly as I can, sometimes not completing the job. The store will still be there later, or tomorrow or next week..

There's been little to no "people in a shared space eating" in my life for the last year (I have no "bubble", except perhaps the sister with whom I had a jointly prepared Xmas dinner in her well ventilated large house). Shopping is a necessity that one person per household, masked, infrequently as possible, needs to do. Eating out is considered by most of the world to be a comparative luxury.
 
It is weird to go to the food court. I might sit right by the double doors constantly opening and bringing fresh air in, if I stay for coffee. Usually I take it outside. It's weird because going past the tables everyone is masked, but at the tables people are eating and keeping masks off. And there's no invisible forcefield protecting anyone in that space or anything. That was a top down decision to allow that risk. Some they will allow, some they won't. It is hypocritical in a way - but we know it's to keep those businesses alive.
 
Summer is coming, and the opportunity to sit at opposite ends of a picnic table with a friend and eat a take-out meal beckons. I'm dreaming of a particular burger and onion rings.
 
Also, I'm aware that these discussions take on underlying meaning when we recognize the different family dynamics of the contributors.

Life is just different in pandemic if you live alone. And when the person who phoned you daily, pretty well, for 24.5 years, stops doing it, the true loneliness of COVID kicks in.

I often wish Lucy were less anti-social.

I am exempt if I say I am exempt based on my understanding that the masking is not necessary and can be harmful. I am not offended by the signs ... I think they are rather 'funny'. I have not yet had an argument with anyone about not wearing a mask ... I let Garry be the designated shopper and he wears a mask. I wear a mask when I decide it is better than causing a commotion. For the most part though I do not wear a mask and I have met a lot of people that are relieved to not have to wear one in my presence. I don't go out of my way to offend anyone ... but legally ... I do not have to comply.
 
Could you explain, in simple terms, why you, personally, are unable to wear a mask for necessary contact? Totally get that your spouse is shopping in your place, since you don't mask. I'm assuming you've had no necessary medical or dental care?

Please explain in simple terms to me, "harmful", when it comes to simple mask wearing? I've got COPD customers, with their O2 therapy going on under their masks, 2 year olds with sequins? No-one passing out from oxygen deprivation.
 
I'm not talking about going out to eat. Where do people think nurses, water treatment workers, food processors, eyc. are eating during breaks?

I have avoided medical 'care' like the plague. I do not want to go willingly to any place where they are 'practising' covid protocols. But I did actually have about 5 dentist appointments ... I hate going to the dentist at the best of times ... so got it done during the worst of times. So December and January I found a new dentist for myself in Winnipeg. They followed protocol and I complied to the best of my ability. Now I have two new front teeth ... and nobody that I have not told has even noticed ... even without a mask. I continue to avoid wearing a mask where ever possible. And I do not require anyone to wear a mask in my company ... as far as I am concerned everyone is exempt unless they are too uncomfortable with non compliance to risk it. My assumption would be that people that are not well would not be going around in public or private deliberately spreading illness of any kind. I would never ever demand that someone else wear a mask. If I thought they were contagious I would stay a fair distance away from them. Masks have their place ... just not every place. I will be happy when people stop wearing them for the wrong reason and in the wrong way. Given the choice if a child wants to wear a mask ... I would not stop them ... but I also would never condone it as a necessary practice. I can choose to wear a mask or not. But that is entirely up to me ... so I am exempt from mandatory masking whenever I choose to be. Do I want to incurr the fines or make a public spectacle of myself ... not yet ... but if the time comes that I feel I have to I will.

There's a problem with assumptions....they're often wrong. I prefer to be in masked company in some places not out of fear of non-compliance. I appreciate the masks from a harm reduction perspective. Sometimes people aren't aware they are not well because their symptoms are minor. My immune system is compromised. I appreciate that people wear masks and distance as a way to reduce the risk of transmission. No, I'm not living in fear. No I'm not overly compliant. No I'm not going to lock myself away until all this is over.

Howzabout a bit of commonsense?

In NSW mask wearing by our Premier was "recommended, but not compulsory".
Hardly anyone (except we oldies and Asian Aussies) wore them.
There was community transmission.

The Premier then made mask wearing mandatory and introduced fines.
Now, even with community transmission in NSW nil, folks still wear masks on public transport -as it's still mandatory.
Those that have a genuine reason for not wearing a mask, either get stuff delivered or a friend or family member shops for them.

It seems to me that if you can't wear a mask you sure as Hell won't want to risk being on a respirator.

Socially distanced in the cafeteria which is reduced to 1/3 of the cafeteria Seating. Spread out in the physio department with every person sitting on one plinth. Staff rooms have maximum capacity signs. In cars. Outside on benches as possible. At desks but with limited capacity per room and with disinfecting before and after.
 
Commonsense; does that hint at logic being present?

In a domain where emotions, passions and illogical activities is praised ... why all the ruckus about folk screwing around with everything that that know little about?

What do we know little about? Inclusive of everything and some say everything is God or the other way about!

Yet we cannot accept the other way as some fallacy of logic ... from the fringe it may appear funny ... but wht would I know I grew up stupid as I've been told by authorities that claim to know much better ... doesn't such hubris trump all ... and the populace accepts what?

No logic and illogic get entangled as they go along ... Happy Wanderers ... excess motivators that should rest by times!
 
Express no logic unless in the form of illogic ... for the truth of logic is loco ... it just isn't so!

Furthermore as with Thomas there are doubts if the image can be resolved due to irrationalities ... did eh muse? Sure did ... still is ... timeless!

Socially distanced in the break room, with microwaveable food from the store, or their own packed lunch, masked when not actually eating or drinking. Go to the local Subway, the Tim Horton's drive-thru and eat in the car. Large places will still have cafeterias with modified rules.
