Sorry ... I am trying to have some fun with this ... I am not trying to negate the seriousness of the economic health risks to a fair portion of the population ... I am virtually passing the time of this day away ... by playing what I am calling NovelCoronaEditionMonopoly.WWW

Not sure it’s effective. This is a big deal. May take years for the economy to recover. You laugh at the 1%. It it’s jobs for everyone

and deaths for lots of people. And worries for everyone

My hematology appointment next week has been switched to a phone one instead of being in person. Usually I get bloodwork done, plus right now I am supposed to be doing that once a month to watch my liver. Not sure what the plan will be for that.

I have an appointment at the cancer clinic next week. I'm wondering if they will do something like that. On the other hand, I do need important bloodwork before they can release the med to me. I think the doctor also needs to see me in person. I'll know when I know.

I'm hoping with bloodwork I can at least get one set done and that it will be way less crowded because people can forgo general screening for a bit.

I've been going to the hospital satelite clinic in the afternoon the last few times. It has been quiet and quick. I'm hoping that is the case on Tuesday afternoon.

The one here used to be like that, but the last year or so it's gotten busy. The waiting room is at least huge, it's really not a room at all, so distancing is much easier.

At a self check-out today, a mom had 2 little kids at her feet (they happened to not be white - it occurred to me that might be relevant to what happened?) they looked like they were getting cranky and restless, were starting to whine. A man and his partner (who were white) were at the machine beside them - the kids started wandering into his "lane" and he looked at the mom and down at them and shouted: "Can I have a bit of personal space here!? J*sus Ch**st!!", and then grabbed his bag stormed out the door.

The grocery store was jam packed and shopping carts were loaded.

I wonder if they'll start having a door person with a number counter, and having people go in, in timed intervals.

Anyway, I now have enough extra (frozen and non-perishable) food to survive for 2 weeks if I ever need to self isolate. I won't be having any big fancy meals, but I have enough.

That crazy busy store was attached to my regular mall - which, in the corridors and food court, was really quiet. I saw random people carrying 4 packs of some brand of TP I didn't recognize (nobody had more than one) - I wonder if some store was handing out free TP with purchase, or to get them in the store, or something. I never found out where it was from.

I have been expecting something like this for years.
We will see how it 'plays' out ... in the meantime ... no amount of worrying can change a thing.
I will do my utmost not to 'spread' the virus in the event that I become exposed to it.
I will do my utmost to not avail myself of the health care system in any way shape or form unless it is an emergency.
I will do my utmost to support whoever I can through this time of 'chaos'.
I will respect people's social distancing protocols as I encounter them.
I am not afraid of the virus at all. I have never had a flu vaccine and I never (with my consent) will.
I am concerned at where the level of government 'control' will lead ... my concern is not for myself ... but for all my relations.
I will continue to look for the 'good' that may come from this 'experience' and be grateful for any 'sense' of humor that I can find.
I will try to stay out of this thread unless I have something of 'value' to relay.

I recommend you call before doing the prep. I shared my appointment is phone, I've heard in patient groups of cancelled surgeries.
Excellent suggestion -although Sydney has more than half the confirmed cases in Oz - so far most hospitals (but not all) are okay. But anything can happen in the next week, as regards hospital closures for day surgery.......

My neighbours are returning from Vietnam tomorrow, and I have their mail.(I'll leave it with a note at their front door!)

I'm trying to remember the number of cases here in this city, it's not many. Last I heard the province is at 26, and it's Calgary that has the most.

Found info from today, it's by health region, so all of Edmonton & the surrounding areas. There are 8 at least count from some point today.

It appears as the isolationists dream ... distancing ... to support the theme of you are wonderfully and independently made ... in*comm*uni*cado?

It is all in the kitty ... a separate vision?

Shopping this morning was mixed.

No Frills was in full "panic buying" mode with massive lineups, empty shelves, and staff policing the door (to keep the number of people inside to a reasonable, and legal, number).

Costco was basically a normal Saturday. Even had TP (2 per customer but it being Costco, they were huge bags). BUT we arrived twenty minutes before their opening time to find they had opened early. I suspect it will get worse now that they are into their normal hours.
