It does really bother me that some parties are making the management of this into partisan fodder. This is NOT the time for partisanship - it is a time when good governance & welfare of the nation (world?) should take clear priority - if we are mature enough - which for some seems not to be the case.
They can't not go to war, and other atrocities...why could they manage this with no collateral damage?

We've been living in a time of partisanship, and of far right authoritarian-creep, before this hit.
(You'll have to excuse me for being distrustful of what the higher-ups are "really" doing. Yes, I believe the virus is real and 'reasonable' precautions should be taken. I just think it's being over-focused on when there are people dying at higher rates of other illness all the time, AND I don't think it's coincidental when there are mass protests in the countries that have "shut down" as per why the governments chose to go the authoritarian route in managing this.)

*Sigh* If I knew how this virus would affect me mildly (which I don't) I would rather catch it sooner rather than later.
If I knew beforehand that I was just to get a mild case it could stop my anxiety levels getting out of hand - and the quicker I could return to normal living.

After bushfires, floods -and now this - Oz is losing it's laid back attitude. (Just ask Tom Hanks!)

I have been thinking of you Pilgrim. I agree - you Aussies have been having a particularly bad time recently. (((((YOU))))).

The human race is being infected on various fronts. We have sown the wind and will harvest a whirlwind. Our physical being is much corrupted by our pollution of our environment. This in our blind submission to those seduced by the restless striving of power after power.

At the end of this month I will celebrate my seventieth birthday. For nearly seventy years I have been faced by the threat of death. A prime example is the atomic crisis of the late sixties. Fear was fostered by relentless television and print media propaganda. In school we had drills to prepare us for when the bombs would begin to fall. Through my fears I lived under the influence of rising state power. Such fears no longer hold my imagination captive.

We are now being coerced into isolation by the over arching structures of power. This rooted in the old adage “divide and conquer”.

Will the imposition of fear-power ... rebound like Roger Rab't on the perpetrators of the scheme (sometimes referred to as privacy conspiracies)?

The separation of sacred and private causes some dissonance ... splitting the cognizance. Far too deep for those that don't wish to go into that well ... on return from there one might find they lost something to the lady of the deeps ... that's UR!

Pubic schools in Ontario are closing for 3 weeks including March break. We are being advised to work from home if we can.
In Ontario there are only 1700 ICU beds....if this gets out of control we are sorely unprepared...Because of the lack of beds the Ontario govt giving advice to reduce contact with each other and things, thinking this will reduce the need for ICU beds.
So, in light of all that I was trying to think of ways this virus could spread and how we should be mindful.
Sitting at the drive thru for coffee I was watching the cars ahead of me. Money was exchanged and some used the debit machine in their hands. Then theres the coffee or food itself.Apparently the virus can live on surfaces for nine days....there was no cleaning of the debit machine between usage. Who knows what transmission takes place inside....washrooms,stacked coffee cups, plastc utensils handled from groupings, disposing of garbage within fast food restaurants by touching lids....Probably full serve restsurants would be suspect.
What else can you think of to guard yourself?

This may seem extreme, but when you hear of Italy having to decide who gets a ventilator for 3 weeks and who doesnt....its not good....and that doesnt count who needs them or are curretly using them for other health reasons.
Models are showing we would need 10 times that amount of ventilators if things get out of control.
Be aware of what you touch and crowds I think.

Money has always been known to be dirty, I always assumed the same of anything similar like ATMs, the machines, etc. Just touching the stuff with your hands won't make you sick, there needs to be transfer to the mouth, nose, etc. That type of thing isn't going to cause me to change my usual habits.

  • The virus should serve as a wake-up call that China and other Asian markets need to legalize online gambling, says a casino expert.

Why just them? It is illegal in the US and Canada for the most part, too. Most of the online casinos and gambling sites are offshore.

What is illegal is to provide online gambling services of any kind to Canadian citizens unless approved and licensed by the government.
Find your game on PlayNow.com: BC's only legal gambling website.

I clean my hands often. This isn't going to make me drop doing that. Sounds like many people are just disgusting in terms of their hygiene most of the time and this is making them rethink?

I heard today that a child in the UK was sent home from school and is to consider himself in detention. His crime? He was caught selling hand sanitizer on the schoolgrounds -50P per squirt.
