Actually there's a glowing report from one American Newspaper about Doug Ford:

Trudeau & Ford will follow in step with 'marching orders' from:

Canada’s federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu.

The Quarantine Act authorizes Quarantine Officers to implement various control measures ...

The Quarantine Officer may do one or more of the following:
  • Assess ill travellers by asking additional questions regarding the traveler’s symptoms and confirming information about the traveller’s country of origin and possible exposure to a communicable disease
  • Refer ill travellers to hospitals or local public health authorities for further measures, as appropriate
  • Communicate with local public health authorities, as required, so that they can notify Canadians who may have been in contact with, or in the immediate vicinity of, an ill traveller
  • Assess medical and travel histories of travellers who have died while travelling to Canada
  • Impose control measures, as necessary, on the importation and exportation of cadavers, body parts and other human remains
  • Adhere to Canada’s obligations under the International Health Regulations to communicate potential public health risks globally
This Act is made to ensure all us fellow travellers have a pleasant, safe, and adventurous trip.

Be careful out there folks.

In that case, clean hands (hand sanitizer might be the best option in that case) plus a mask could be options.
Most people dont think about cross cantamination even with gloves and face masks on. Theres a reason these places are hot spots.

I have seen some people using a simple elasticized headband/hairband & sewing a button on each side to hook the mask elastic around, to avoid friction on the tender ears. Works for the simple surgical type mask, not for an N95 tho. Never thought about hearing aid interference tho ... very good point.
I have seen those online. I think it might still be an issue how much contact there,is,when donning/ doffing. Imfeel I want to avoid digging in my hair too much when doing this.

I haven''t had to deal with it, but I don't understand the losing the spot, especially with it being said for just 1 night. Do people in LTC not ever get to travel anywhere if they have those who can make the arrangements?
The nursing homes are locked down, at least here. If you go out and in contact with others, the whole thing doesn’t make sense. In NS, they have given IPADs to LTC facilities so they can stay in touch with family. It is not easy, but the only way to keep the virus out is to reduce the amount of traffic and contacts.
Under normal circumstances, of course, people can go home for weekends. Under these circumstances, they cannot. So if you decide to move out and in with your family, its like signing yourself out of the hospital against medical advice. I can understand that they can’t have people move back and forth all the time while trying to quarantine the residents.

Hand Sanitizer @ my daughters store got expedited government stamp of approval !

New batch is ready ...

---- will begin taking advance orders for Hand Sanitizer on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. To place an order, please call our storefront location at ----. This is the only channel where orders will be taken. Our storefront team will then place your order, process your payment ---- and provide you with a scheduled pickup time when you will be able to pick your order up at our --- store located at --

Grandson will be on the front lines earning (volunteering) Graduation Class of 2020 Credit by handing over these orders!

We are going to do the best we can to produce and supply as much hand sanitizer as we are able to in order to meet the increased demand in Winnipeg and the surrounding area. Please be advised however, supply for both the ingredients to make hand sanitizer and the packing required to bottle it are quite limited. While we have an interim supply and are working tirelessly to source additional supply, there will be times where we run out and are unable to fill orders. We will do our best to communicate with customers via this webpage and on all of our social media channels.

Because of the demand for this product and to ensure it reaches as many people as possible during this time of crisis, we will be imposing a limitation of 2 cases per customer order. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

I understand the in and out. If one is paying for a place though I don't see why they should be forced to be there if they choose to be somewhere else. They can leave belongings and be elsewhere. Especially with temporary layoffs being so common.

Sorry to bring this up, but something Henry said just caused me concern.

Henry said the public shouldn't expect to fully return to the way of life they enjoyed just a few short weeks ago until a vaccine is available or until most people become naturally immune to the virus. (Italics mine)

We are being told a vaccine could be a year away. Can a person become naturally immune without catching and recovering from the virus? So that means several months to a year in lockdown, or wait until it’s spread to everybody and killed some (which I thought was the whole reason we are under these restrictions, so as not to allow that to happen), before they will lift restrictions? Is that what that means?! I get serious “cull the herd” vibes from that.

No new cases on Vancouver Island. They are all in metro Vancouver area or Fraser Vally. No new cases in the interior or Northern regions either. There were only 25 new cases in those former areas mentioned. 825 of 1291 total cases have fully recovered. 66 people in critical care, province wide. Median age of death is 85 yrs. (The life expectacy age here is 80.5 yrs. )There have been 43 deaths.

I am nervous about the latest statement. It doesn’t seem to be approriate considering the numbers.

Everybody is paying for LTC, just some people more than others. Private care places, however, are - at least in NS-,very little regulated. In fact, they don’t even need qualified staff. Downside is, because of that, its the owner who makes the rules. So, its up to the owner to allow a resident back in or not. We do have this happening occaisionally after someone was in hospital and then gets not allowed to return ( sometimes despite us thinking there isn’t really a good reason not to). Funny, though, people think they pay a lot of money and get quality service.

*Fraser Valley

I just checked and a vaccine won't be ready for 18 mo. Henry didn't mention anything about a treatment, but a vaccine. In order to get herd immunity without a vaccine, people would need to get exposed, get sick (whether mildly or not - and we're told it's so unknown risky and dangerous that's why we have to do these measures so as not to get sick and take up a bed or pass it to someone who might need to take up a bed) and recover, wouldn't they? But she doesn't want to roll back restrictions until one of those two things happens first. Yet we're all staying away from people, we're all confined mostly to home, and even people who are sick with flu like symptoms are told to stay home and they are not being tested. Mild cases are not being identified at all. The general population is not being tested to see if we had it already and are immune. It seems that despite BCs combination of efforts, discipline, and maybe some good fortune, in keeping the numbers very low - particularly on Vancouver Island where we have a huge elderly population that seems to be bucking the odds - we will have to do this for 18 months? If there is no growth in cases and they peter out then there's no way to become naturally immune first anyway. And if they don't test to find out, there's no way to know. So that leaves healthy swaths of BC stuck at home for 18 months and others not getting care for other things because they are preparing for an explosion in hospital needs for covid that is not statistically or realistically materializing?

Could Italy an Spain's numbers have anything to do with the really old (beautiful and historic) apartments in narrow cobblestone streets, and villas - people living in closer quarters - not as many suburbs or newer buildings like here? Could rodents carry it?

:giggle: Sure completely ignore my comment and tell me to chill with the serenity prayer. That's just...argh. Sigh. I am sorry you are afraid of keeping a critical eye on this lockdown business and whether it exceeds its necessity in places - we should be concerned about that.
