The funny bit is to know that what you go in with as a plan doesn't always turn out.
We wanted a bungalow -- nope it isn't one.
We wanted an out building for a shop - nope, didn't get one.

You can enter from the rear, with a driveway leading up, for the main floor. The main floor is where most of the lving occurs in the room.

So, why a bungalow? We spend most of our time in the basement rec room at our current house, and wanted to have light (not be in a cave).
Our washroom (only wahsroom) is on the 2nd floor, and going up and down the stairs to the kitchen, to the washroom, to the office, was something that was hard on some friends, and I knew someday might be hard on me.

So, this house has a bathroom on each level. Woot!

Surprised to hear of a house without a washroom on the main level! I don't think I've ever seen that.

The new place is gorgeous!
My Mom always says she's not moving out of their house until absolutely necessary. If mobility because a permanent issue the plan is to get some type of lift put in.

I gave birth to both of my boys by c-section. My husband put a porta-poti in the laundry room to allow me to relax, care for baby, and heal without running up & down 2 flights of stairs.

During my cancer treatment, we upgraded to a commode in the laundry room. It was more about the time it took to gt upstairs was greater than the time I sometimes had to respond. Hah.

Anyhow, our current house is 1920 two story, with a washroom only on top floor, but, we have a "water closet" -- ie thetoilet is in a room next to the room that has the sink and bathtub

I like it when they are in the same room, but with separation, sometimes there's a pocket door. We have a mini wall by our en suite toilet, so if the door is open to the bedroom there is privacy. It's completely open viewing from the bathtub though, wasn't able to get my ideal in the bathroom.

I like that too Chemgal. In this case, though, with the 4 of us, it was nice to have them separate.

Our little townhouse in Hamilton was about that age but had been remodelled so much there probably wasn't much original left in it. The washroom in particular was pretty much completely modernized (albeit with some dicey electrical work as we found out when we brought an electrician I knew in to put in a GFI).

Yeah, when it's just what's connected to the master bedroom and there's other bathrooms it's a bit different!

When I moved into my one level home I thought two bathrooms on one level was overkill. But- they came in handy. First junior had to learn to clean his own bathroom, second- very useful when one person has the stomach flu and now, with junior moved out, the cat has her own bathroom!

That looks like a great house Pinga. I wish you years of joy in it. Lots of little things to decide now I expect - in addition to the location for the cat litter. I know a couple who were feeling 'one bathroom short' - they decided that a PortaPotti in the master bedroom would solve that problem quickly, easily and cheaply. We decided we could manage without a garage in order to give hubby a workshop. We also ignored the three bedroom idea - we have our bedroom, my sewing/craft room and a room for the computers and related mess.

Yup, one of the garages will be the workshop.
Going to go over next week and measure, and determine who gets what bedroom, which will be a guest room, and which will be the computer type room.

Wow Pinga that is a house! Now who will be living in it? You and Mr. Pinga? or one of your sons? or son and partner and grandbaby? Enjoy!

Myself and Mr. Pinga, youngest son.
There is also a possibility that the guest room will be occupied a fair bit .
One room my office area, big enough to hold a meeting and to train folks which was difficult in our existing house.

hmmmm, not sure what it says that the wine shelf and booze cupboard didn't have as much to purge as did the tablecloth cupboard...

I'm thinking this might be a time where you wanted to have some to "purge" .....;)

Kitchen items that we don't need in the next two weeks for cooking, eating, are now packed.
Dining room furniture is now empty with all items are all sorted, packed.
Living room ornaments, etc are packed.
Master bedroom is well underway, with my closet & dresser (summer clothes, shoes, purses are packed
Laundry room is packed, sorted of most stuff. (keeping cleaning, laundry products on shelves)
Bookshelves are sorted through & packed (major endeavour in our house)
Think we might take on the freezer and kitchen cupboards / food stuff tomorrow.

Piano is being looked at on Saturday (we hope)
We have 4 bins of science fiction novels to go to the used book store, and one of mystery, etc.
Six boxes of stuff that were for brother-in-law were delivered today.
More items are going to niece and brother!
We have about 12 boxes and a few big bags of items to go to one of the used drop-off locations.

Determined that a family member is giving up their apartment, and some of the items that they have, we can use, and some of the things we have , they can use, and the timing is great.

Last week will be for those things that we will use up to the move: each room has a bit of them (not much, but, some, ie dishes, clothes, kleenex boxes!, washrooms, etc)

Still lots to do, but making progress.
