Back in the 80's there was a roadhouse in Kitchener called Lulu's.

It was massive...was a repurposed K-mart (remember those?)
  • Floor space: Approximately 75,000 square feet (nearly 1.7 acres under one roof).
  • Capacity: Approximately 3,000 people.
  • Bar length: 340 feet (103.6 metres), once recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's longest bar.
  • Opened: April 3, 1984.
  • Closed: 2000.

I was reminded of it when I saw a picture of balloons on anothre post.

Lulu's had baloons for ?sale? that you could tie to your chair (or, in many cases, a friends chair)

    Balloon colourMeaning
RedA woman who wanted to dance
BlueA man looking to show women a good time
    YellowSomeone who was shy
    PurpleSomeone who was horny

I seem to remember there was a white one, but, can't be sure.

Does anyone else remember Lulu's? They had an amazing house band. Also brought in big names. I saw James Brown there.

It is said that there is a sign for everything ... some really strange and some would deny them ... maybe disbelieve that Lulu's existed ...

The Purple balloon is hard to take if a character doesn't believe in sexuality whatsoever and claims celibacy ... through a sense of lack of emotions! I'm told so get really brutal and mad at such times ... and there can be no reason for such incidents!

Remember hearing about it. One of my siblings went to UWaterloo and I think she may have been there a few times, but I never was. You saw the Godfather of Soul there? Excellent! That's a memory to share.

My guess would be that the white balloons had something to do with innocence. Virginity. First time at the roadhouse

Never went (I am not a bar kind of guy) but being from Kitchener where I lived not all that far from it, I certainly heard of and saw the place. Drove by many times. And I remember it opening. They definitely had some impressive acts coming through in their heyday.

Bars say a lot about society as it makes them open up ... it is said Jesus depended on such sources to determine what ailed folk ... mental overflow is intoxicating as stories can be ... truth and virtue just do not stand up in reality ...

If a collection is complex enough there can be a lot more visible than apparent ... incarnate? First thing you know you're out of the situation ... medium is good and get everyone's medium changes and their point may be all over the place like the Bishop of Myra ... and you know how that went over ...

The stuff ignored is vast ... thus great ignorance and other deficiencies ... like spending all our resources on tearing apart associations that are for the populace ... society ... autonomous potentiates will disagree regardless ... without sight! It is the nature of people of conflict ... so are prepared to get out when they've observed sufficiently ... marks life terms!

Even Jesus followed that guide away from the other inclinations ... and so it sinks in ... the innate! Tight also ... difficult to access intellect given the weavings of threads, strings and other opposing conspiracies ... consider the directions!

I went just once, with two other girls to see Davey Jones. He was well into middle age at that point, and hilarious...really funny and engaging. Disco era. Likely wore my halter dress and platform shoes. Friendship -- giggling in the ladies room. Someone needs to write a book on that topic alone!

Giggling? disturbances in the quantum stillness ... something needing explanations that the institutional organization will never figure!

Recall where all of this is restricted ... in all seriousness about hard irony!

I went to Lulu's to see April Wine ( amazing!) and " The Doobie Brothers" they were one of the best bands I've ever seen back then...they sounded just like the recording plus more!
I also saw Davy Jones and was thoroughly disappointed, I felt almost embarrassed for him) He was so much better with the band IMO.
I usually only went if I thought the band was worth it.
Lulu's was a good idea to provide a venue for great music for what some would call "has beens" they weren't in my mind though.
