CANADA’S FOOD CRISIS IS POLITICAL, NOT VIRAL
The CFIA’s Heavy Hand and Government Silence Are Breaking Farmers and Public Trust Alike.
What started with a few hundred healthy ostriches in B.C. has become a national scandal.
The owners begged for independent testing, collaboration, and real science. Instead, the government sent lawyers, RCMP, and court orders. And what showed up next shocked the community:- 60 to 100 RCMP officers stationed around a peaceful family farm- Nearly the same on standby for 45–60 days- Barricades, fencing, massive amounts of Hay Bales, dozens of porta potties, Super Save crews, Trucks, waste bins, lighting towers, and 24-hour patrols- who knows how many CFIA Agents and Workers- Mercinary Killers brought in to shoot the Ostriches (Over 900 shots counted and heard) All this to destroy healthy birds while refusing to test even one.
Here’s where the money went: • $1.8M–$2.7 M → RCMP (overtime, hotels, per diems, travel)
• $490K–$880K → standby police detachments
• $250K–$350K → CFIA enforcement staff
• $350K–$500K→ fencing, Hay Bales, bin rentals, cleanup
• $150K–$250K → fuel, vehicles, generators, trailers
• $750K–$1.6M → legal, court & admin costs
Total: nearly $3.5 - $5.8 million and counting for one small ostrich farm and People Standing up to Due Process
Meanwhile, violent crime, drug deaths, and theft plague communities but Ottawa thought birds were the bigger threat.
“You’d think they were raiding a cartel,” said one resident.
“These were peaceful farmers and families, not criminals.”
THIS ISN’T AN ISOLATED CASE
Across Canada, the same pattern keeps repeating.
• 1980s, Saskatchewan: Grant Alexander’s herd destroyed for a disease that never existed.
• 2024, Alberta: Over 2,000 cattle killed near Stettler after one positive sample — later proven clean.
• 2022–2025, BC & Alberta: Tens of thousands of chickens destroyed; farmers threatened for questioning CFIA
• 2023, Nova Scotia: 20 backyard birds culled in hours.
• Prairies: Deer and elk herds destroyed over Chronic Wasting Disease with unclear evidence or compensation.
Since 2021, the CFIA has killed over 11 million birds in Canada yet Avian Flu still spreads through migratory wild birds, rodents and wildlife the one thing they can’t control or haven’t tried to control.
Instead of science, Canada got politics, optics, and bureaucracy.
Instead of testing and research, they got police escorts and legal threats.
BILLIONS FOR BUREAUCRACY AND PENNIES FOR SCIENCE
The CFIA’s “stamping-out” policy is an outdated hammer being swung at every farm. They spend millions on enforcement and almost nothing on innovation or rapid-testing. And every time it happens, it’s the small to medium family farms that pay the price while big corporate operations thrive.
If I hadn’t read your thread I wouldn’t have gotten caught up on the story and noticed the US govt involvement
All is right with your worldview then. Trump Bad is your final answer. AGAIN.
Meanwhile in Canada:
Not a word from:
• Prime Minister Mark Carney
• Local MP Scott Anderson, reportedly told Poilievre not to get involved
• Premier David Eby, allowed the RCMP siege to happen on provincial soil.
"Every party missed this one,” said a retired CFIA vet.
“It’s easier to stay silent than admit the policy is broken."
”Farmers now see CFIA and RCMP as agencies to fear, not trust."
BAD TRUMP.
