Graeme your comment about no women allowed was not funny. It's too close to what I have experienced in my life. No girls allowed in the rocket club at school,no female ministers and few doctors etc, no girls allowed playing soccer at recess, a facility being built with ONLY a male change room-and them saying-it's because no girls come (well duh) Thank God times have changed.

My ex husband was more traditional then he thought. I was teaching our daughter chess-he looked at us and said "But females don't play chess". I was stunned. I pointed out that I did and girls could. He wasn't against it-just didn't know it was possible-and was from small town Alberta.

m-m-m-m It seems to me obvious that what I said was self-deprecating - suggesting unpleasant things about me - not about women. It's also true that there is quite a derogatory collection of language about men. they're always so useless about the house. I remember the day when the school bully, who was years older and much bigger than me knocked me down and was kicking me. And I heard a sweet, young thing passing by say, "Oh boys. They're always fighting."

I was ten at the time. I wasn't fighting. And I still remember my ground-level view as she passed by. I can even hear her voice.

Niece and I put the decorations away...looked for a ring that fell off her finger this morning - it's still missing...watched "Cinderella" (Disney) and "Riverdance" cause "I'm a better dancer than they are, right Beth?"

And for the elderly jae, not to worry. I get a blood test every second week. All it ever shows is that I have blood. And my arm looks as though I have a pet porcupine.
