Another couple of nice bike rides today enjoying Summer while it's here. Met our new minister at Church this morning, she seems like cool upbeat person, a good fit as our second full time minister. Also, found out the odometer on my bike only goes up to 9999.9 kms. After much frustration I managed at last to reset it to zero so I can start again.

I'd carpool if I was in Toronto and I'm hardly the chauffeur driven type. Even I was that rich, I'd buy an Aston Martin or Bentley and drive it myself. Why let someone else have the fun?

I think you're missing the point Mendalla. The Council is making life more difficult for most people, so the pampered elite can have their circus.

When I ride my bike past the traffic jams it is single occupancy vehicles causing the problem. At least 80% of the cars in the jam have just the driver. Carpooling would mean two thirds of the cars are eliminated making traffic move again.

Fair enough, but that's not what came across in your rant. It sounded rather like you're against HOV lanes. I'm not a fan of the whole drive to host multimillion dollar world events thing either and would likely vote against doing so if I had the opportunity unless there was a plan that clearly spelled out how it benefits everyone. I do see that it can help call attention to a country/city, but I'm not sure it's always worth the cost and social disruption.
