Living in a province where provincial and municipal police are the norm and the RCMP only show up in things like terrorism, organized crime, and counter-espionage, this sounds incredibly serious at first. I know it's just because Alberta contracts the RCMP as their "provincial police" (actually, wasn't Smith talking about starting an APP?) so they do routine stuff that the OPP or local cops would handle here but that's just kind of a gut reaction.Papers delivered. Waiting now to meet with the RCMP.
Yes, Dani wants to get rid of the RCMP in AB but for now, that's all we have policing in rural AB.Living in a province where provincial and municipal police are the norm and the RCMP only show up in things like terrorism, organized crime, and counter-espionage, this sounds incredibly serious at first. If Alberta separates, the new government (I kind of doubt it will be her) won't have a choice. I saw some of the numbers from the report on the cost of separation. The separatists are insane. But I bet they'll play the same gambit as the PQ in Quebec. "Oh, we don't have to take on any of the federal debt even if we did help create it." Which is a lie. There's no way the other provinces are going to assume a separating province's share of the debt.
At the same time they have a highly inflated idea of how much of the assets (like the CPP) Alberta would automatically get. The latest plan they put forward is beyond delusional. Especially since a lot of them are in hot water for shady shenanigans in other areas of their lives. At the same time they have a highly inflated idea of how much of the assets (like the CPP) Alberta would automatically get.
