Based on the current forecast, we are bracing for impact. Freezing rain and Lord know what else on the way. I'll hold on in LAST as long as I can.
 
We have a snowfall warning that includes whiteouts and 15 cms. We were going to go to my sister's and have cancelled since most of the bad stuff will be between here and there. It won't last.

They are calling for a good chance of Power going down, you and I live right in the line of the most ice accumalation....so I filled my tank( because with power off, gas stations go down too), mixed a formula of rubbing 3/4 alcohol and 1/4 water to spray on front and back windshields for a powerful de icer for those without garages(in a clean spray bottle labeled toxic). I have plenty of battery powered lights from value village from the auto dept and foods we can eat.
Food will keep in a fridge for 36 hours if you dont open often.
Have water and am keeping phones fully charged( I dont have a land line), but can also do that in car. Lots of blankets...we have electric heat. Salt in trunk of cars.
How do others prepare themselves?
 
Too much ice to go to work. Well, to the office. Have laptop, will travel as they say. So I will just sit here in LAST and work quietly.
 
Niece here from 9 - 4:30 yesterday and we had lots of fun and accomplished lots too :) I even convinced her to do some yoga so I could practice teaching.

Now, I must get the paper together and ready to send in as I didn't work on it at all yesterday
 
Finished the paper just after 8 AM (thank goodness it's only 12 pages but I was going through a couple back issues that were 32 pages and my gosh, I did a lot of work on the paper for years!)...had to phone the Calgary press as they didn't have the site set up for me to upload...got that all figured out and it's sent in. :)

And................................I just sent my submission for the 2023 Calgary Stampede Dream Home Artist Contest...........fingers crossed!!!!!
