I read in the daily paper LAST night that a gallery in Red Deer is putting out a call for artists - and it's open to beginners...so (deep breath) I'm thinking of submitting a proposal
Be brave. The worst they can say is no. An old guy on my writing board keeps posting lists of calls for submissions and I am contemplating submitting to them. These are mostly paying sources, too, vs. the ones that I am currently on that don't pay (but are also free to join).

biggest stumbling block right now is what to focus on for my submission as I do more than the sky drawings and can submit up to 10 different items as part of the proposal

My gosh! It's been a wild week so far and I haven't even shared the wildness with you fine folk!

Monday - acupuncture and we stopped at the garden centre so I could show them my dying tropical plant and ask what I did wrong - nothing it was stem rot and just a (bad) luck of the draw situation :P While we were walking around, I saw two LARGE banana plants that I said I would love to have one in my house - as they are huge, I asked if the garden centre would deliver as I'm almost an hour away and not in the city (they were to get back to me)

Tuesday - garden centre phoned and it would cost $80 to deliver which seemed excessive to me when the cost of the plant was around $200 so I decided to pass and see what other plants would enter my life in the future...then in the afternoon I called back to see if they still had both plants and was told they had 3 (!)...I ordered two (delivery charge didn't seem quite so bad when divided amongst 2 plants) :) Then after more humming and hawing I phoned back and ordered the 3rd one (!) Then the garden centre phoned back that they couldn't transport all three in one trip so would have to charge me 2 delivery charges so I cancelled the 3rd one and said I'd just take 2.

Wednesday - dropped off boxes of books from my yard sale to the library (in exchange for two large boxes of Harlequins I took the other day)...niece was there so I got to see her!!!!! Also asked my brother-in-law about putting air in my bike tires. I went home to get my bike - despite the HEAT and WIND I decided it would be easier to bike to sis's - stopped at the library on my way and donated our old globe as she doesn't even have an atlas so this would be better than nothing (it isn't a "real" library but more like the old fashioned lending libraries as we're not tied into the prov system since we reverted to hamlet status and lost our library)...air in bike tires...garden centre phoned back and they can transport all three in 1 trip and was I still interested in all 3 - I said yes!...and they are cheaper than I remembered as I can get all three + the $80 delivery for just over what I thought I'd be paying for 2!!!! Plants will be delivered by 2:30 PM on Friday.

Thursday - my new internet is so fast that the paper uploads in less than a minute! Would have been nice to have that back when the paper was 32 pages! Hopefully today I can start work on my proposal for the Call to Artists for the gallery (fingers crossed)
