It's quite warm and humid here. Not impossible, but not really hole digging weather. The dogs are too hot. Went for a walk with neighbours dog today, who is about 18 months old now. He's not a great walker, and neighbour has to coax with treats, and Lucy's like "WTAF?"; he also directs the route. She's not taken him for basic obedience training, thinking she's doing a great job, when, in fact, the dog is training her. It's friendly with people and other dogs, which is a huge plus over lunatic Lucy, but it only has reliable recall if you have treats with you. And it's already got quite a few fear behaviours well-established, including of garbage trucks. And when it's fearful, it has a loud and persistent fear bark, exactly like its irritating great-Auntie Phoebe... And she uses the same nylon webbing martingale that a Collie's skinny head can back out of. *sigh*

just had a couple stop to look at the sale - gal asked if I happened to be related to Beth Richardson - told her I was Beth and it turns out she used to work at the regional library headquarters and remembered me from the few months I also worked there back in 2000/2001 (if she wasn't wearing a mask I might have recognized her sooner)

I met one of my colleagues (a branch head) from the library I used to work at when I was at a visitation for my sister-in-law's father. She was good friends with my sister-in-law's mother. Love small world stories.

small world stories are the best :)

As I was awake, and it was a cool-ish (there was some humidity) 62F at 4:30 AM this morning, I biked my 6K this morning starting at 4:45 AM...the things we do when there are extreme heat warnings. I went back out around 6:30 to pick my daily salad - thankfully my garden is mostly in the shade at that time...by the time I finished around 7 AM (it's also a great meditation so I don't rush through it) there was a lovely breeze blowing so I stayed out and pulled weeds for an hour.
