A crow just tried to land and slipped on the ice - comical :)

We went to a local marsh area in the city for a walk a couple years ago when the water was frozen. We enjoyed watching the geese come in for slippery landings. A couple took out others in their slide. :)

In a windstorm once I saw the wind cause a flying goose to do a back flip in the air in front of my windshield - poor goose didn't seem to know what happened to him :)

LAST, at the end of my day, which included a very busy shift at work. It was quieter than usual yesterday, for a Saturday, because the weather was so unexpectedly summer-y, so today's cooler temps and much-needed rains brought out those who would have shopped yesterday. Was excited to see Ed, one of my fav old customers, a Newf in his 80s, who has been prohibited by his children from venturing out in the pandemic. I saw him once, maybe four months ago; he snuck in and out whispering "don't tell my kids!". Today was apparently semi-legal, as he's had both first and second vaccines. I could have hugged him. I miss some of my customers who have been not "allowed" out by concerned family.

And we 'normally' see Ed 1-3 times a day. He lives in one of the apartment buildings across the road, the smaller one that's largely seniors. He comes over for a package of donuts for a breakfast treat, later for his dinner plans, and often a third time for something he needs/forgot. He is an inexhaustible font of Newfie wisdom. :giggle:

Lucy sure has a mind of her own :) You would think that there are enough dogs around here - especially now that the off-leash dog park is across the highway on the school grounds - to scare away an skunks.

Not sure skunks have too many worries about dogs. Though if one gets close, they raise a stink about it. :giggle:

I heard a funny story about dogs, skunks and bunnies the other day. Owner had two good sized dogs, pitties or rotties or summat, who they let out in the backyard. Unfortunately, skunk in backyard, at fence line, which owner sees too late. Dogs tear after the skunk. Between they and the skunk was bunny, frozen in fear. When the dogs took off after the skunk, not even seeing the bunny, the owner watches the bunny fall over and literally die of a heart attack from fear.
