Some projects aren't totally complete unless there is swearing involvedI finished my bag. Much swearing was involved. I was thrilled to get the zipper in and all that involved. Over all I'm pleased with it, wonky parts and all. View attachment 4550

I find that more so with a number of issues of the paperThanks. I totally agree. Swearing is an important part of the creative process.
Ay. My sorta folk. I love it that reincarnation types never regress back to the servants, always the princesses. One set of grands were cotton mill workers. One set were a maid and a stableman(apparently he cleaned up well and also drove the Master around.).
yes, it was/is a multipurpose plant and not a weed at all.Fibre types, did you know that you can make a knittable/weavable fibre out of nettles? Apparently even more indestructible than hemp.

Actually spent a delightful day at a cotton mill, the Quarry Bank Mill, checking out everything from the extensive steam-powered inner works (my cousin is a steam-engine freak), to the enormous processes involved in getting cotton bales to fabric, including all the labour required to do this, including the orphan apprentices. Ironically, we had to pay a bit extra to see and hear how very young kids were housed in tightly packed dormitories, 3 to a small square hay filled box bed, 1 bedpan per ten kids. They got paid overtime, lol. 1 pence per hour (no interest), to be paid out upon their graduation at age 16 when they might qualify to be a full worker. Company town was nearby.
I have a nice stuffed heart hanging in my kitchen window made from mill fabric.
