Always works out that way, doesn't it? Maybe there should be a thread about repurposing things like single socks and Tupperware lids (or bowls, for that matter). That would be interesting, and could be helpful.
Once when we cleaned we were short lids - I only have a couple extra which is fine.

just put 6 flourless chocolate cupcakes in the oven to bake - didn't double the recipe as just me to eat them

I don't have any extra Tupperware lids. I don't have any Tupperware items that are missing a lid. Will you all be shocked if I say "I don't have any Tupperware?"

I have about 1/2 the Tupperware that used to be in this house - sis took the other half - she has a LOT of Tupperware and now has more

I had pantry moths - which I had never heard of before I moved in here. Apparently they crop up in this house from time to time :(. So I had to throw away all of my dried goods and build up my staples from scratch but don't have everything that I threw away, yet. I am lacking in Tupperware or imitation Tupperware of the larger sizes. I need to keep rice, oats, flour, pasta, cereal....all in Tupperware now. I threw out a lot of food because those little buggers hide and they camouflage. Apparently not harmful if you happen to crunch a few with your granola. They about the size of an average housefly and look like grain husks when their wings are closed. Gross!

They're called Indian meal moths and they piggy back in on groceries. Back to wiping all my groceries, even the packages.

UGH! Sorry to hear that.

I think the main culprit was a double sized box of store brand cornflakes that was open (bag rolled up inside but they can get through that) but not used for months. Also, possibly some bulk pasta in a couple of twist tied bags, I hadn't used in awhile. Again they can eat through that. It's hard to tell where they originate, and they move on to other grain containing packages - so I just chucked everything and wiped the shelves down.

The one time we had insects in food, it was already in the package right from the store.

That can happen too. This is an exotic moth that can even breed in spices. The eggs look like grain dust. They're gross but not harmful apparently. My vegan landlord says "at least they're a bit of extra protein". Lol. Ew.

I didn't want to guess where they might be and take any chances though. Too gross. Very unappetizing. I wanted to take care of it swiftly. So I threw out a whole lot of staples unfortunately.
