I think it may be cashews I've been reacting to lately...will stop eating them and see how I feel.

I did have a colleague at work who experienced the same thing though and, IIRC, also tied it to eating cashews. They did tell us on a tour in Belize that they aren't edible when raw and are made edible by the roasting process so it would not surprise me. They also gave us a sample of a nice cashew wine (made using the juice of the fruit that contains the nut).

My late uncle had them and he's been gone about 30 years so they may have been less common or less talked about back then but they certainly did exist.

yes they did exist, and certainly there are authenticates of them today. however, i wonder if they haven't been overLy diAgnosed in our timeS. it's like Trendy.

There were recommendations for a period of time for pregnant women to avoid eating peanuts & nuts. Also to not give them to children until they reached a certain age. Now it looks like that may have done more harm than good.

Awareness is also huge now too. I went to quite a few kids with peanut allergies - preschool, kindergarten, young grades. It wasn't a big deal that some schools make it out now to be. Not all allergies are extreme. My sister has allergies to some nuts, but she's been told she doesn't need to worry about cross reactions unless she starts to notice it becomes an issue. Schools now seem to assume any nut/peanut allergy is a really severe one.

I have no trouble with any other nuts. Can't eat peanuts because they are a legume and not a nut.
