I also can't help thinking of Jae, who claims to have experience winter in AB...he should be here now to know what winter is REALLY like!
 
I pulled out my knitted jacket to work on...according to my notes I haven't worked on it since March 14, 2018 o_O I was sure I've done something since then!...anyway, been so long I had to look online to find out how to start the stitch o_O

I had a neighbour who moved here from Calgary with her two kids who said that even though the temperatures were colder there, the - 15 in NS feels much colder here to her. Never been in AB in the winter, so can’t say if she was right.
 
We noticed that -20 to +20 was different in northern BC/AB than Ontario. Colder than that waa just cold anywhere.

When my wife lived in Halifax, she found that the humidity made it feel colder (one of the winters she was there was a pretty bad one, too). We get a bit of that here, too, being between the two lakes.

As we fondly like to say here "it's a dry cold" - can still bite but not the same as a humid cold
 
Temperatures around freezing point were bitterly cold in England. I remember walking home from the bus stop and taking hours to warm up again - even in the only room of the house that had heat . We didn't have today's super clothing either. Knitted wool gloves and sturdy shoes to go with what would be considered a fall jacket here. In SK temps around freezing point they are barely worth remarking on.

I've been known to still be wearing sandals - as long as there is no snow or ice on the ground - in temps around 20F (-6C)
 
So, it seems tomorrow will be -40s windchill again...looks like the papers won't be delivered till Monday!

I was outside for less than 10 minutes to shovel snow...OH MY GOSH it is COLD! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Temps may be going up but the wind is gusting stronger.
 
We've had a quiet morning here. The boys are out doing some finishing shovelling on the driveway. My sister texted and let us know she is discharged today. She's quite happy about it. Understandably. We saw her walking yesterday and are far more comfortable about discharge. She seems ready to handle this house and its stairs. It will be tiring for her. She'll manage. Her heart was wonky for a bit in the last couple of days. The doctor told her to go straight to Emerg if it starts pounding out of her chest again. We will be telling her that 911 will be non-negotiable if that happens.
