All LAST thread posters are characters I would say. Who else would hang around a thread like this one?

And we all have the character to keep trying to be LAST. Persistent bunch, we are.

I completely emptied my file drawer for The Chautauqua - going to revamp my filing system as I'm sure most of what I've filed can go as I've either 1. never looked at it in the past 14 yrs, or 2. haven't kept the files up-to-dtae so they are pretty useless. That should lighten my life considerably when I'm done.

That seems to be the way with a lot of paperwork. It can be so satisfying to get rid of it if you don't actually need it.

I had mountains of paperwork connected with the OT College & it all went in the recycling bin when I retired. I had two official College binders and I passed them along to a younger colleague. What a joke, there was way too much paper for 2 binders.

I'll be LAST while you sort & toss.

I started with the easy part - tossing records from older than 7 years. That created a pretty large pile - and was only 2 yrs worth as I'd gotten rid of the others before. The other will require a bit more work. I think I'll rest in LAST before tackling it.

Happy sorting and pitching. A few weeks ago I started going through my books, now have about 7 boxes of stuff I'm just not ready to get rid of yet, but don't really need to keep on the shelves. Emptied out 2 of many bookshelves. Now the boxes are stacked (semi-)neatly in the corner of a little used room.

Books are a pain in the r's to those that don't like word in concentration or scattered forms ... non-intelligent naïveté is best for that host ...

Some can even strain their rotosism when carrying a lot of books!

Have done some downsizing of stuff since I retired. Paperwork (as I said earlier), figurines that will never go on display, clothes I will never wear again, etc. It felt good.

It also feels good to be in LAST place.

Clothes - which aren't totally done - i started in April 2013 and then were put on hold till Dec as I was too sick. Paperwork has been ongoing in various stages since Jan 2013. Sorting Gramma's belongings finished last summer and then we started on the rest of the house - that has been slow.

Lots of emotional baggage with sorting out someone else's things. I found it harder than dealing with my own stuff.

Normally that would be the case but it wasn't her personal items - my uncle did that - we had boxes and totes of craft supplies from her ladies group and boxes and totes of items she bought to use as gifts for people and never did. So more like sorting store inventory.
