we christians may welL be the worst religious group when it comes to celebrAting our own holidayS. how many of us who are chrisTians actually have taken the entire season off work?

Today (Dec. 28) is also the Feast of the Holy Innocents. At least in the congregations I have served, that doesn't get much attention either.

Maybe because they're not sure who the Holy Innocents are...though, any excuse to feast should never be overlooked.

I had CBC radio on in the middle of the night. I loved the comment " Christians celebrate Christmas. They believe that part of the holiday is helping the less fortunate" That I believe is much more important than taking time off work.

Having time off work can help in doing ministry with the less fortunate. ;)

I work at a community college; we always get the week between Christmas and New Year's off, and I have ex-in-laws from out of town who always come to visit that week, so it is indeed, an extended celebration for me.

LAST.

I did take it off but nothing to do with religion. Had holidays banked that had to be used, else I probably would have worked Tuesday to Thursday this week (Dec. 28 being our "Boxing Day" since the 26th fell on a Saturday).

Technically I am working this morning as I'm getting year-end done, and technically I'll be owrking Wed & Thurs when I deliver papers, but I'm not really working this week. The great thing about this business is that I can work for an hour or two and then take the rest of the day off, any day of the week.

Doing some reading tonight for seminary. The topic is sacramental theology. It's interesting reading for me, especially considering that.

I'll be owrking this week too. Hopefully it will be slow, but won't be having any hour or two days, alas.
