I disagree. I mean, i once had this hot looking girlfriend many many (dont ask how many moons, cant remember that far back) moons ago , and i read how chocolate is an aphrodisiac, well tons of chocolates latter , candles, hmmmmmm, no go .

"Mate" is often used, but "Sheila" is seldom used now -except by very old men who live in the bush..........

The most common greeting in Oz is to give a slight nod of the head and smile.

I sometimes say "Good morning, people' when joining a group, or 'Good night, people' as I wave from the door when leaving a gathering. "Ladies and/or Gentlemen" seems to me too, too refined for most of my social contacts.
The term that really annoys me is 'guys'. Someone enters a room of mixed company "Hi Guys". Is she really just greeting the men? don't we women even exist to her? A young woman giving a talk to a seniors' group, 90% female. "Now you guys should really consider exercise - there are special classes available for guys in your age group. You guys will really ... and so on." Guys, guys, guys. I'm in a mood; I interrupt her. "What about us woman? What do you recommend for woman?" She doesn't even pause, "Well of course, it's for all you guys." Duh! Now I'm one of the guyss????? NO

Incidentally I've never thought of lady vs whore. To me it was a class distinction. The lady was 'rich', dignified, wore white gloves. The women got their hands chapped with cleaning, and/or dirty working the garden.

I didn't say I didn't like the brainstorm ... allows me to loose my thoughts and thus I am always picking up threads of stories to see if there is any myth appearing in the dust bunny as accrued ... sort of like motes settling in the circus of intent ... when settled in the Eire clears ... not atoll like Aryan disturbances ... no hostilities in tent ... just a point raised in gentility!
