I wish to go back there ... hom meo pathE! Moe's???? Its a long sight ... Constance ... Constantine's MS Ðress? A Latin number, or icon ... as a sign of unloading ... the cladding went ... Aphrodite? First Canada is letting them into Canada without proper screening.

Michael Barutciski, a professor of international affairs at Toronto’s York University, told WBZ that “Indian nationals do require a visa to enter Canada but there was apparently a decision by the government to not be as strict in processing the visa applications. For example, no longer asking for proof that the visitor will be returning to their country.”

“It’s actually quite striking that Canada’s immigration minister has admitted that the security screening is unreliable,” he added.

The government has since adopted new policies such as limits on temporary foreign workers and international students and a complete stop on allowing people to apply for work permits inside Canada.

“Many will end up considering illegal options. Either they’re staying undocumented in Canada or they’re crossing the border illegally into the U.S.,” Barutciski noted.

Trump border czar Tom Homan has spoken out about illegal immigration from the northern border and has shared plans on how to restrict the flow of unlawful migrants.

Canada is preparing for a rise in the number of immigrants coming to the country if the second Trump administration imposes its strict new restrictions and aggressive mass deportation policies.

Homan called the northern border an “extreme national security vulnerability,” when speaking to a local New York TV station earlier in November.

Rita, you're Canadian. You're from Manitoba. Is your concern about Canada or the US?

I see a lot of rhetoric, but no numbers. If we have people in Canada who have overstayed their travel plans, sure, we should do something. But how are all these Indian nationals crossing the border into the US? Isn't this a US problem? The border isn't as lax as it used to be. How, specifically, are they getting across? What documents are they using, because you need documents last I knew. How do the Americans know there is an emergency here?

Nothing about this makes sense. It looks like a ploy to rip up the USMCA and apply tariffs. The USMCA can be ignored in times of an emergency, so declare an emergency (in bad faith) and renegotiate the USMCA.

Our government, by all accounts, did a great job of renegotiating NAFTA last time around. Trump caved. Now he wants a do-over. That's all this is about.

I get all that, but who comes into Canada is our problem, not Trumps! We update our screening methods.
And if Trumps border patrol let's some undesirables in from Canada, then they have the problem with their screening not us.
I would not let Trump suggest he makes any of that decision for our country.
And Mexico and Biden have been working on this for awhile, it's been started and numbers have been lowered.....of course Trump will say he did it since he just started talking about it (when he takes office.)
Just like he will definitely claim Hezbollah's and Israels temporary ceasefire in Lebanon as his doing.

I seem to remember that there is something, at least in some areas (the story I seem to recall was from BC????). Not so much a fence that stops one from crossing but a system that sends an alert if the border is crossed in. Maybe I am making that up?

With the mass deportations that Trump intends to carry out, in addition to ending programs that protect certain groups of migrants there will likely be more illegal crossings from the US into Canada again. Homan has said he intends to deploy more immigration agents to the northern border and will encourage Trump to negotiate with Prime Minister Trudeau to increase enforcement on the Canadian side.
 
Does anyone else see the double standard here?

Rita is cheering on the mass deportation of people who are in a place they are not welcome. Meanwhile she has created a second sockpuppet to get around being banned from here. It's really too much.

Rita, if people should not be somewhere without being allowed in, how do you explain this? Is it okay for people to be in a country illegally if they create a new identity for themselves? Are you the blueprint they should all follow?

Should be doable. Sensors networked to some kind of command post. The type of sensor will make a difference as to how effective it is. Cameras with motion detection will give more information but also be easier to detect and require more bandwidth on the connecting network. Then again, with Musk in the administration, maybe Starlink can handle the bandwidth issue. Simple motion detectors will be easier to hide and require less network capability but won't tell you much beyond someone crossed the border at this location at such and such time.

Since chansen can't wait for Council to discuss the matter further, I will confirm that based on evidence provided by chansen and some new investigation by me, we are now fairly certain that @Northwind and @BetteTheRed were right and WhyCzar is, in fact, Rita. The moderators have this information and are discussion next steps, given the permaban.

Like Waterfall said, everyone knows it's Rita. We've known for months. I'm just not tiptoeing around it or pretending it might not be Rita anymore.

You guys do what you want to do. I'd hate for you to ban her (should that be the decision) before I point out the hilarious double standard.

I could never understand building a physical wall when there are more viable options.
Of course it may turn to tunnelling.
I'm a little worried that those running from real persecution might get ignored or not processed fast enough. But they should quickly be taken in by the first safe border crossing IMO.
