Biden currently has the lowest presidential pardon record of any president in modern history, with a total of 25 pardons granted, according to the Justice Department.

The Center for Popular Democracy sent a letter to Biden shortly after the November election urging him to “pardon and commute the sentences of all 10,000 pending clemency petitions before your presidency ends,” per a copy obtained by NOTUS.

“As the lead author of the 1994 Crime Bill and a major supporter of a number of bills in the 1980s, all of which have severely harmed Black, Brown, Indigenous, and poorly-resourced communities around the country for a generation, you have a moral and social obligation to repair these harms inflicted on our communities,” the letter reads.

Analilia Mejia, the group’s co-executive director, told NOTUS that Biden should “use his power to offer clemency to individuals on death row so that … they are less vulnerable to rush decisions under a Trump presidency.”

Trump will not be able to undo the pardon when he takes office. And its sweeping nature means the Trump Justice Department will not be able to reopen the long-running criminal probe of the president’s son, according to Samuel Morison, a lawyer focused on clemency who spent 13 years in the Justice Department’s Office of the Pardon Attorney.

We concede that both Biden and Trump pardoned criminal conduct.
Joe Biden’s pardon of his son slams the door shut on tax evasion charges and any prison time that Hunter would have received on his federal gun conviction. It effectively ends further inquiry into the Biden family racket involving influence peddling. Essentially, by pardoning Hunter, Joe Biden pardoned himself.

Do you think Trump will pardon himself? Is that okay?

Does anybody remember why Nixon didn't pardon himself instead of President Gerald Ford doing it?

If you are not guilty you do not need a pardon.

Biden has reason to worry about the changing of the guard, from his point of view.

Those who are guilty fear being discovered more than others.

Richard Nixon reportedly asked for an internal legal opinion about the option of a self-pardon towards the end of his presidency. The President’s lawyers said he had the power to issue a self-pardon, but Nixon declined to do so.

But just before Nixon’s resignation, the Justice Department Office of Legal Council issued its own memo on the subject, on August 5, 1974. “Under the fundamental rule that no one may be a judge in his own case, the President cannot pardon himself,” said Mary C. Lawton, Acting Assistant Attorney General.

That didn’t mean that a President couldn't find a way to receive a pardon and continue in office. “A different approach to the pardoning problem could be taken under Section 3 of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment. If the President declared that he was temporarily unable to perform the duties of his office, the Vice President would become Acting President and as such he could pardon the President. Thereafter the President could either resign or resume the duties of his office,” Lawton said.

Of course Trump has been convicted of 34 state felony charges in New York State, all of which he cannot be pardoned for....so he is guilty.
Presidential pardons are only for federal convictions.

So VP Vance would need to pardon Trump....lol.....wonder if the Republicans know they have an out?

Elon Musk claims his DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) ) commission can save the country 2 trillion dollars by trimming the fat of our bloated
No wonder most Americans are excited bu the coming Trump presidency and by the same margin (56-44%) that they were apprehensive about his first pre

Trump doesn’t need a pardon. All federal charges against him have been dismissed at least until the end of his Presidential Term. The president allegedly can’t issue pardons for state prosecutions but those too will soon be dismissed or reversed on appeal.

The fat to start trimming is defense.
On his X page on Sunday, Sanders offered support for Musk – a billionaire who he has criticized in the past.

“Elon Musk is right. The Pentagon, with a budget of $886 billion, just failed its 7th audit in a row. It’s lost track of billions,” he wrote. “Last year, only 13 senators voted against the Military Industrial Complex and a defense budget full of waste and fraud. That must change.”

Why is Trump so beloved by most Americans, despite his glaring flaws? Perhaps mainly because of his policies. I'm reminded that King David was a murderer and an adulterer, and yet, he is the only man described in Scripture as "a man after God's own heart." Of course< I know that Trump is no King David.

How exactly does T demonstrate Christian values of any type? I haven't read the article yet and fail to believe he has any Christian faith except what pretending he does will benefit him.

Don't know that he's pretending. I feel it's more the case that he actually believes that being a Christian is all about the actions one does. So, he'll do things like sometimes attend church, issue his own version of the Bible, and sometimes publicly pray.

However, it seems true that he's sorely lacking Christian values like humility, compassion, and truthfulness

I get what the article is saying, but what if God didn't pick Trump.....and instead it was Trump who picked the Christians to help serve his goal to win?
Basically it could be argued either way.
What should be the deciding factor IYO?
