ty American MIL for inventing the internet and who then gave it to the world for free

ty free market capitalism for giving complete strangers the ability to help financially strangers pretty much anywhere in the world using multiple modes of payment...

we live in a world of miracles...

(tis good that a fund is being made for that traffic accident in TO by that Special Needs man...i wish it could have happened for the many families involved with the airplane accident on Sept 11...)

I've heard of the Roughriders. Aren't they some sort of sports team - hockey or football or something! :p I can't think of a single thing that applies to everyone in a province - other than that they live there. No offense taken.
 
Count me among the many who connected to this personally. I had hockey sticks lining my porch under our porch light. It hit me in a way that the Toronto tragedy (or other tragedies) did not - on a very emotional and visceral level.

All three of my boys are within the ages of the boys killed. We are active OHL supporters who have season's tickets to games. We heard the announcement about a bus accident before it had become national news - at an OHL game. My eldest is very involved in hockey. These days he plays ball hockey at the varsity level, as well as recreationally. He is 21. On the day of the tragedy I had put my 17 year old on a bus - it was with a choir rather than a team, but it felt similar.

All tragedies are awful. This one reminded me how easily it could have been one of my boys.
 
I had a 2 hockey billets last year. It could have been them.
My close friend has 2 hockey boys, One is done, the other playing junior A in Alberta. The latter knew some of the boys on the bus.
And so a hockey stick with a green ribbon went on my porch.
We wore hockey jerseys on the designated day.
And together we made and mailed a quilt top as requested by a local SK group.

The Toronto tragedy It took a long time for names to be released. Victim Services could not release contact info and turned down the quilts offered as they had enough to do, No local quilt group picked it up. The injured and dead were random and not linked in any way. It did not tug my heart as much even though I have been at the corner many times (I did grow up in Ontario until grade 12)
