Spending my first winter in the USA I have been surprised. Surprised by the support for Trump, who is a moron to me. Surprised by the lack of support for changes to gun laws. Surprised by the concern over gun deaths, but the unwillingness to relate that to open gun laws

It is sad. I constantly get asked about health care, Canadian immigration, our gun laws. But it is all as a odd thing, not as an opening for change

It has left me realizing how very different we are as two countries

I discussed health care one day. The American responded. “ but that sound socialist”. I responded. Yes it is. As a country we agree to support each other with our tax dollars. No one gets a bill when they leave the hospital. It is just something we do. The surprise was evident

I think we simply really don’t get the issue with guns in America. It isn’t logical to us. It is very logical to them. It amazes me that they don’t relate their gun laws with the thousands of gun deaths, but they don’t

Trump says there is a great interest n all Americans to work at the beautiful situation in the blank room ... they need some Eve Angels to support the shadows there ... have you considered the situation? It could be a good fit ...

I have been looking for truth my whole life. Took a lot of experience to peel away the layers of ignorance laid on me by the structures of power defining and ordering the present age.

Early in the process I wandered alone along the highways of Western Canada. No place to call my own and pretty much estranged from all familial relations. Learned much about the value of simplicity and the cost of complexity. As any athlete knows the price to be paid if the prize is to be obtained.

Now I know myself to be but one of a growing company of persons determined to bring forward an alternative imagination of our personal and common experience along the human way. A turning from the world of advertised incitement to desire. What Socrates calls pandering. Buddha is very helpful in this regard. His understanding that desire is the root of suffering. The stimulation of desire being the prime motivation of the advertising industry. In a sense, the determined cultivation of addictive behaviour.

Paul Tillich's "The Courage to Be" encourage and strengthen me along my way. As do Martin Buber's "Education for Character" and Soren Kierkegaard's "The Knight of Faith".

Many years ago I was told that at some future point a person would confront me with a gun and shoot me in the head. I got up from that conversation and walked towards the predicted day. In no way concerned regarding the moment of my death. Only determined to pass through that moment with dignity and without fear. As it is written: "Into your hands I yield my spirit."

America is divided about guns. America is divided about gender alternatives. America is divided about race. America is divided about religion. America is divided about global warming.

America is divided, and thereby conquered. By whom?

What will it take to unite America?

Ironically enough, lawmakers across the United States and in Washington are pushing for stricter background checks when people purchase guns but as this law illustrates, if you want to buy a baby, no background check is needed. A crisis of consciousness indeed.

Red herring. The Republicans control both the House and the Senate. Nothing passes without them. Why are people continually blaming the Dems, as if Trump never got (suspiciously) elected, and as though Hillary is president. Wake up!

There are costs involved in surrogacy, medical included...but without changing the subject too far, I would suggest that this is just being thrown out there as a distraction, by libertarian gun nuts.

Do we have a critical conscience? Not if we are told by law that critical thinking is disallowed ... tis religious directive ... very subtle ...

Partisan poles? Polaches ... hurts my head ... man just to think of it ...

When are they going to pass a significant gun control Act, while they are at it? 90% of the population wants stricter gun controls, background checks. And legislators are ignoring the people. It goes in one ear, and gets filtered through the NRA before it goes out the other ear - and the NRA are a political mechanism in the MIC. Wake up!

It is a fact that government does one thing and one thing alone ... and that is serve government ... a government that is the greatest aggregated fiction ... and it will ultimately serve to protect itself and defend itself. You have millions of people who are salaried bureaucrats and civil servants and politicians and parliamentarians and lobbyists ... millions of people whose lives are connected to the fiction of government. That is a huge conspiracy against the lives of 'others' that are stupid enough to keep endorsing the government by voting and paying taxes without question. The only way to change this systemic abuse is through grass roots cultures. Railing against the military industrial complex while at the same time endorsing them with our ignorant complicity in the atrocity of mass shootings by getting swept into the prevailing propaganda of 'gun control' is just buying into the insanity.
