I have free will to an extent, what do you have.

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

A community where we discuss, share, and have some fun together. Join today and become a part of it!

Just out of interest, who are you directing your post to? I'm a humanist. Most here are christian and some are in-between. We have all sorts here, could you be more specific. It would make it easier. Thanks and welcome to the group. Nice to have you on board.
I direct it to anyone who wishes to nibble on the cheese. The little wooden trap can't hurt you, so go ahead and taste the curded delight. As to your welcome, so nice of you to welcome the fox. My, what a friendly little hen house this is.

I assume you've checked out the Community Values tab. ;)

Also, welcome. You will find us a bit of a mixed bag. If you identify as Wiccan, very cool. My daughter's a bit that way inclined. Crystals and yoga and chakra clearing, etc. She's on an acro-yoga retreat this weekend...

To return to the subject of the thread, assume that you believe that you have some degree of free will? (Subject to physical laws, of course; no amount of free will would enable me to shift my big guy, who is 3 times my weight...)

No I haven't, not much for rules and protocols. I'm a bit of a party pooper that way if I'm to be honest. I mean what's the worst that can happen, I get banned? Fortunately I'm not immune to the concept of self preservation.... so no worries.

As Bette suggested, read the Community Values and do consider whether your choice of avatar and username reflect those values, likewise your use of the fox in the henhouse analogy.

I like my avatar, I like my username, and I like my in your face attitude. Having written that you may not, and I can understand why. My last forum was taken down after only 6 months of operation. I just would not censor my members, or myself for that matter. If you feel that I need to go, then you are probably right. Follow your instincts.:alien:

They haven't censored me, and I can sometimes be rather cutting.

Exactly it isn't what I asked for.
Glad we agree. You didn't ask for the names of the Bible books. You asked how many authors there were. I did my best to answer your question for you. It seems that, for whatever reason, you're unpleased with my answer. No matter. Moving on

You are very likeable, do you know that? :giggle: I am offensive yes, is that against the rules here? My persona is anti social because I don't like most people I meet. Not a big fan of human nature. But I am free of racism, homophobia, and am not an anti Semite. In fact I am an expert on the Shoah. (holocaust) The avatar and my username serve to remind me and hopefully you all, what we humans are capable of, yes? (man's inhumanity to man)

Welcome Aufscherin. I hope you will state what you believe about free will. You seem likely to offer an interesting point of view on free will. Like many other threads, this one drifted off tract.

Biologists demonstrated that most of our decisions are made before our mind makes the decision. If we believe free will belongs to the mind, it is mostly illusion. If we believe free will belongs to our subconscious and our mind, then it is tricky judging how much free will we have. It becomes a question for philosophy rather than science.

Danka Herr Kenny und danka fur de begrubung. We are all a separate universe of memories, influences, and experiences. Added to that some have a weak nature while others are strong like Krupp steel. You can add the predisposition of nervousness or the lack thereof into the mix. Social ostrazation and oppressive laws, or a free society also will determine our free will.
A complicated, convuluted mess, n'est pas mon ami? Ca cest la vie, est ont peu faite rien je pense.

There were a few hundred short on your list though, and some had made up names, But yes lets move on.

No there weren't
Like I said, you should have read my post in it's entirety, before posting your list. As I said in post #44
"The pentateuch attributed to moses is a composite work developed over centuries.
Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings are generally believed to have been written by multiple authors.
Proverbs, is the result of long editorial processes.
The gospels are not written by those named, it is also believed they were written by different communities and edited over time.
The pauline epistles are debated as being written by his followers.
The bible involves multiple authors, editors, and historical contexts. The exact number of authors is uncertain."
That is the consensus of opinion from bible scholars.

Anyway I thought we were moving on. This is of topic.

Did read it. I don't agree with you.

It is your prerogative to disagree. However, you're not disagreeing with me. Programmable Search Engine Authorship of the Bible - Wikipedia Just a couple of links. The first requires a lot of reading, though I doubt you will look for yourself. You'll just continue to say "So you say, Ner-ner, ner, ner-ner, I'm not listening." with your fingers stuck in your ears.
The next post will be back on topic I hope.

"Net net net?" Fascinating. No, but I will share that Wikipedia's not a credible source. I'm sure you can find some people who will agree with you. I can find same who agree with me. However, the bottom line remains that you asked a question and I out of the goodness of my old heart sought to answer that question for you. The least you could have done was to offer a simple "thanks." It's pretty sad that you couldn't or wouldn't do that. I'll remember for next time you post some query

Folk's, Jae only reads one book-tome ... thus limited to the ultimate world of God that is really out there requiring extensive etude!

The word even states: "question all things!" Then the great mystery provided a lot of alien matter for mental chewing ...

Check Jae's diet ...

Remember my faith's foundation. The Bible's the living word of God, providing me with truth.

Balancing my spiritual diet with the richness of God's word and the insights from my other studies leads me to a deeper grasp of God's mysteries. Let's encourage one another, always seeking to grow in wisdom
