I don't vaccinate my child because it's my right to determine which diseases come back

Who is putting blind trust. You do realize that there are controls on pharmaceuticals, including trials. It is not easy to get a drug approved for human usage. Even when there is evidence.

Lol, I am not sure where you get the "blind trust"? WTF? who is saying that?
The only people that I know showing "blind trust" are those that go to Florida for treatments for disease or refer to there local snake oil salesman or talk show guest that have no professional accreditation and pitch you their solutions.

Of course there is requirement for controls. We should also not be ignorant and discard scientific evidence. .

Don't use the word crippled if you're not joking and you're not 'crippled'.

Has there ever been a medical cure to a chronic illness that a person was being treated for prior - not maintenance but complete cure - that brought a person back to their original healthy state? I think we see a lot more drugs being taken regularly, lifelong, to ward off symptoms but not many true cures for chronic illness.
WTF? My father was crippled before he had his knees done. My brother-in-laws father was crippled. What on earth is your issue? look up the definition of crippled -- a person unable to walk or move properly -- a crippled old man.

Kimmio i think there are different tyoes if people who dont vaccinate and it doesnt surprise me thatyou know lots from BC

I suspect California is also a high no vaccine state too.

The uneducated and religiously fundamentalist type dont vaccinate. The uneducated because they are perhaps poor, dont have healthcare.

The fundamentalist because they believe in no medicine ( some groups)

The other big group is the educated yuppie

Theones who know better than everyone.

They eat organic. They are wealthy

They get info from the Jenny mcCarthys of the world.

They read about annecdotal cases of reactions

They conveniently ignore the deaths from disease

They say measles is a minor disease, forgetting the deaths that occured in the past. And totally ignoring the morbidity

And yes, i expect that BC has more of this latter group of people. It is the hold over of the wildwest. The idea that we should be Libertarians. And not be told what to do.

Have drug companies made mistakes in the past? Sure. Thalidomide jumps to mind.

But we have been vaccinting for 50 years.

If someone doesnt want to vaccinte, it is their right. But it is our colective right that they not endanger anyone else. So restrictions should be made

Just think, you could be on a plane for 6 hours and the child behind you could have the start of measles, or chicken pox. And you are exposed, for hours

Or your child, sits beside some child at school who is unvaccinted and exposed and is sitting there , shedding virus for hours

These days we would be more likely to say "a person with limited mobility" than "crippled". The Ontario Crippled Children's Center was renamed many years ago.

When I was diagnosed with diabetes I was informed by the diabetes educators that I should be offended by the term "diabetic". I am "a person with diabetes" evidently. Or "a person living with diabetes." Makes no difference to me.

Ahab was crippled ... he had an ivory leg ... but that may be a just metaphor about someone that goes on pure emotions (irrational ration) without a Q' loo for which to put crappy overpowered thoughts ... thus subtle powers as secondary like following thoughts ... like O'my shouldn ta dunne that !

P3 .... As the brain is a gonad ... would gathering thoughts be appropriate then swayed by other forces?

It is something we should snoo pintu ...

...right. And you know everything, because? Libertarians? Please. No. Just more people into alternative medicine. With a post like that how can I take your information seriously.

The word crippled hurts when people use it off the cuff without realizing that the terminology changed a long time ago- when they should know - especially if you were taunted with such a word. I can take it in a well meaning joke.

I am considered a crippled thinker by many of my absolutes that call themselves friends ... things like Sisyphus ... one should get ova ...

Is a crazy state but you'd be surprised what is seen from ... "out there"! Sometime gifts can be a great curse of knowing others significant discomforts ... and 85-99% of the world appears to be deficient in something due to avarice at hei NDs ... I'D rather be low that numbed to others real pain ... I feel with you Kimmio ... but present rules require that such empathy be covered up.

Do you know how many people do not differentiate from sympathe and empathe? Compares to the ignorance between morals and ET-IHX once Poe and thus Moe ...

Ummm. Well, i did say "i think"

You dont take me seriously? Go right ahead.

I have no need for validation from you.

I simply chimed in with why there seems to be more non compliance with vaccinations in the west

I cant think when I have ever read your posts and thought you had a valid point so it doesn't surprise me you don't like my posts either

There fore when in insane surroundings ... one cannot tell truths ... weave a fabric --- the great weaver! Some say that High Flight is a burr'd of a different hue ... sticks to you without awareness ... the essence of the un conscience-NDs ...

Being if you do not believe in mind ... could you have an unconscience form of what isn't ... close to an incarnation ... or a'postolic vision ... flash of insight? Things beyond us are odd too .. bep repared!

I don't think you're a 'crippled' thinker I think your mind can stretch further than most of us are capable of.

Oooh! Alright, enjoy your view.

A last IHC?

Oops sorry wrong thread .. perhaps due to my background in diabetes ... presently recessive ... like many minds in an emotional stewing ... "stop and know" ... what a wild explicit ... and all reasonable thoughts were blown ... bleu, thus dark Tous ... or Nous ... if you know historical tongues ... ancient thoughts ...

My grandfather had wild swings in mode ... when suffering sweet swings ... plasma alchemii or bloody chemistry ... things people don't like to know!

@revjohn if we have conflicting information about the safety of certain vaccines

If we did then that would need to be taken into account. I submit that we actually don't for many of the routinely scheduled vaccinations. We know, for example that the MMR jab worked. We also know that apart from some very rare occurances the MMR jab is safe. Yet, we are now seeing measles epidemics. We've had an outbreak in Toronto, and three of the four individuals now diagnosed were not immunized.

The only reason people are afraid of the MMR jab is Wakefield's fraudulent study. It does not represent conflicting information. At best it is misinformation.

Thalidomide was a tragedy. A horrible one which was learned from.

It is also an apples to oranges comparison. If only because of the learnings we gained from that tragedy influence how we study current vaccines.

Since we know that measles is a dangerous disease and indeed it can be a deadly disease if certain complications arise should we or should we not do everything in our power to prevent its transmission?

Measles I would say so. I am not sure we need every shot that comes out onto the market right away without hesitation.

I'm not advocating penalties against folk who refuse any and all immunizations. I'm advocating penalties against folk who refuse to contribute to the greater good particularly when there is a demonstrable risk for such refusal.
