How to stop the useless gift giving for Christmas

Christmas is only three months away.I think I have mentioned that problem before, but I usually get invited flr a Christmas get together and it includes gift giving. One friend usually gets overboard with it. Another couple I get often useless things from and also never know what to come up with for them. I would rather stop it all together, have a nice meal and maybe play some cards…
I am ok if the “ kids” get stuff- they are still building their nest and need stuff. Frankly, gas cards might be the way to go this year with diesel at $2.73. But how do I approach the topic?

Reality is rough ... I've been shifting towards giving to proven charity pits in many recent years ... I don't need or want much ... maybe some intoxicating enmeshment from something warmer that a chilling winner ... a prickly sensation in the desert night?

My family went that route. Only gifts for kids. Who are now all grown so probably not until grands show up at this point. That said, my son and one of my nephews are married and my cousin's son has a steady who has come to two family events with him making her seem pretty serious so, yeah, the grandkids might not be all that far off. On the other hand, my wife and I still have a penchant for being away at the holidays so family Christmas get togethers are not a regular things as they used to be.

We gradually eliminated gift giving in the family. I don't miss the giving or receiving of gifts most of the time.

oh, i love giving gifts.

I'm already planning the gifts that i am making for the large family gathering.
All the children will get a sewn item that is like a stuffy.
The adults will get home made granola. Already bought the bags, and have been working on recipes.

Then there are our kids and grandkids. Love to buy for them. Have a box of items that i have picked up...books for the kids. Plus, the girls will get nighties from Grandma.

The great niece & great nephew also have a bit of a stash being built for their Christmas presents.
My girls love the treats their aunt (my sister) buys for them. It's a special treat.

For our book club, we do a gift starting with the "letter of the year". We are coming up on the 12th year of the book club, so, gifts will start with L (I think - need to verify). It's easy. A bottle of wine. Some homemade items. You can steal as well, which results in much laughter. Regifting is definitely allowed!

Oh, I always hated that gift stealing game when I ran into it.

Here in Korea, it's traditional to give money instead of things. So I will give some money to my sons if I see them, and to my granddaughter.
