Flu shot shortage?

Surprises me that Kenney has managed this one better, but Ford is a buffoon, albeit of a slightly different sub-type. The situation in Ontario is ridiculous; they had months to plan this properly.
And I will say he handled a lot of it great in March, April, May. It became a bit of oh, this isn't really going to harm me, boomers aren't as susceptible as I thought, etc.

Well then. I just discovered that the pharmacy where I had originally booked a flu shot for the 9th actually did do flu shots this week. I called the store and spoke with the pharmacist who confirmed this. He was puzzled about why I would be told to reschedule and said that was a head office issue. I have sent my complaint to Rexall head office.

I should be able to get the shot tomorrow at another pharmacy.

Were you not able to get one before the general public could?

Most of the pharmacies here were just giving them to high risk groups as they received shipments, before the general public date started.

There was nothing on the website that indicated that. It looked like you could only book appointments online and that there wouldn't be walk-in clinics. That made sense considering we're in a pandemic so I didn't question it. Lesson learned. I should have phoned the store directly.

They did appointments here, I think there may have been a few walk ins as well if people were at the pharmacy for something and the vaccine slots weren't booked. The high risk just meant people weren't booking a month in advance as they weren't sure if shipments would be in. It was short term bookings.

They should have done that here. I sent a tweet to our minister of health and the health officer asking why that didn't happen. Who knows whether I'll get a response.

My province claims you should call a particular number if you think you have been exposed to Covid or think you may have it. The person will tell you how and when you can be tested. Hubby needed to be tested prior to an invasive medical test. He called the number and got put on hold until he couldn't wait any longer. Tried again later, and later and later. Same thing the next day. He called the doctor's office and was told the testing centre will call you back fairly soon. Surprise - they called within an hour, gave him an appointment for later in the day, plus all the needed info about access etc. No sweat, no hassle, problem solved. We wondered if the official contact number would have ever answered his calls, and whether they would have given him a prompt appointment.

There have been complaints of long hold times and no answers on our covid line in this province. I'm not sure what it's like these days.
