This is an article about shortages of the med I take for seizure-control...

I've had epilepsy since I was 14, and have only ever encountered a med shortage once. At that time they just switched the dosage over to one that was in stock.

Do you encounter shortages in any med that you take? What do you do when shortages occur?

Yes, there has been a global shortage of the HAE prophylactic medication I should be taking. I haven't been able to access it since treating my condition. I just use the one that is only approved for attacks for both. Due to half lives there is a good possibility that I'm not getting the best option to prevent attacks though.

While I've never used it, I do know there was a shortage of epipens due to the recall of allerjects. I carry 2 of them. If it was time to replace them I would have just waited it out and hoped I didn't need them! I should probably be checking the expiration dates now - I've had them for a while. Thought I had an email reminder set up but I don't know how reliable that is or if it would just go to junk.
