Dire Straits was one of the bands I saw in concert in Toronto....great show. This one always livens me up:
I fell in love with Dire Straits from the first time I heard this track. Fantastic stuff. Mark Knopfler is one of the greats both as a guitarist and songwriter. English guitarist and singer-songwriter Mary Spender (marvelous artist herself and also has online courses, mostly on guitar) did an analysis of a Dire Straits song not long ago but I forget if it was this one. I think it was something from the later album Brothers In Arms (Money for Nothing, Walk Of Life, the title track, and a slew of other great DS songs). This one always livens me up:
Wanted to mention that I like that she opens with Mississippi Delta Blues riffs then turns up the tempo and gives it groove. My favourite thing about it, is that intro.Speaking of social conditioning.

I’ve only really liked a few songs. I like her odd duck/ swanness. She’s a treasure. And a strong woman (the courage it takes to wear that on the red carpet confidently as a small example). People find her uniqueness and creativity intimidating I think.Bjork is an odd duck even as musicians go but has done some very interesting work over the years. I know musicians from pop to metal who claim her as an influence. I have never really been a big fan or listened to her much, but definitely find her interesting.
