Post your fave "feel good" tunes....the ones guaranteed to boost your mood. If it has contagious rhythm, so much the better.

Hmmm. I have a playlist on Spotify called Energize My Day! that's kind of this. The title is taken from this classic by the now-defunct Dutch band After Forever (This performance is by their former lead singer Floor Jansen in a solo show. She also wrote the lyrics.).

And then there's this one that's almost always good for a shot in the arm for me. "Elan" by Nightwish. This is my favourite performance from the live DVD Decades Live in Buenos Aires. (Yeah, I know, Floor again. I love this woman beyond all reason. As a singer, that is.)

Oh and this one had my fists, head, and blood pumping a couple years ago. It's German electro-metal act Electric Callboy and Japanese kawai metal stars Baby Metal.

And for some absolutely inexplcable reason, this song perks me up. Terrible theme but the banjo and the bass lines are just so smooth and awesome.

C&W isn’t my go-to genre normally, but when it’s good music it’s good music regardless of genre. Don’t know why I feel the need to explain that lol. I guess, social conditioning by my peers when I was younger. But my it’s in my roots, too.

Lainey Wilson. I like a lot of what I’ve heard from her. She worked really hard - beginning with living in a tent trailer in a Nashville parking lot for 3 years, to get where she is. It’s laudable. She’s talented. This one is upbeat.

I’m all for this. A commuter train sing-along to beat the winter blues! A couple of professional singers were on the train, too.

That was 10 years ago. I’d like to see more things like this happen now. I don’t have the voice to lead it lol

This one always livens me up:

I fell in love with Dire Straits from the first time I heard this track. Fantastic stuff. Mark Knopfler is one of the greats both as a guitarist and songwriter. English guitarist and singer-songwriter Mary Spender (marvelous artist herself and also has online courses, mostly on guitar) did an analysis of a Dire Straits song not long ago but I forget if it was this one. I think it was something from the later album Brothers In Arms (Money for Nothing, Walk Of Life, the title track, and a slew of other great DS songs).

How's this? It's rare to hear lively, danceable music coming out of prog rock but Solstice are masters of exactly that, lively, danceable prog. The band is over 40 years old but founder Andy Cross (the guitarist) has dissolved and reformed the band a couple times and this is the current incarnation with one substitution. Fiddler Jenny Newman couldn't make this gig so her son Laurie stepped in.

This one picks me up. Another old one. This is the best version with lyrics I could find, just in case. They still don’t all make sense - and I guess that makes sense lol. But it’s both an ode and a lament - with a fun tempo. If you didn’t already know, Bjork is Icelandic. Always so unique. She went with the beautiful alien look.

Here are the lyrics - not sure if the video got them right. How ironic lol.

Bjork is an odd duck even as musicians go but has done some very interesting work over the years. I know musicians from pop to metal who claim her as an influence. I have never really been a big fan or listened to her much, but definitely find her interesting.

Swan.

Back to banishing the blues, this one is an old favourite of mine for brightening things up:

I’ve only really liked a few songs. I like her odd duck/ swanness. She’s a treasure. And a strong woman (the courage it takes to wear that on the red carpet confidently as a small example). People find her uniqueness and creativity intimidating I think.

Neurodivergent without a doubt lol

She’s been an influence on a lot of other artists though - kind of under-appreciated influence.
