I'm not talking about the theology behind it. I'm saying we have no fight to interpret the wording as we would understand it today, specifically about 24 hr time periods. Taking away what we call a day changes nothing behind the story.

You have no idea what God is saying in Genesis my friend ------

The earth was dark -----God Created the Light -----God separated the Darkness and Created the Light ----in Genesis 3 ----and called the Light DAY ------

the light was already created before the sun -----the sun and moon just separate the Day from Night -----

You need to ask the Holy Spirit to help you in your understanding here ------cause your not getting it -----

read the Scripture in Context ----instead of focusing one one Verse -----

3 ;And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

verse 14 ----

14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years,

15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so

16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night.

I say ---the light was created Day 1 ----

Now He is making the Sun to bring the light that He made on day one to give light on the earth -----and the Moon to bring light in the dark ------

All of this considering what we don't know by command of the bible ... at least to those taking it literally as; "the tree of knowledge is stupid" ... thus a tree to be looked into ... not a love of those preferring not to know and thus Gnaw Stic ... a buried vision ...

Years ago, in 1988 or 89, I heard the Rev Wayne Hilliker of Chalmers United Church in Kingston preach a sermon about the creation story in Genesis,
and the main point he made was this: the Creation Story in Genesis doesn't tell us how God did it. The story only tells us why God it: because it was good. The point of the Creation Story is that God created something good, and people are to be stewards of God's good creation of the Heavens and the Earth.
Do not tie yourselves up in knots trying to explain and extrapolate the physics behind the Creation Story. Instead, accept that God created the Heavens and the Earth because they are good, and endeavour to be good stewards of this creation.

The Creation for True Followers of the WAY is not a story ------it is God's Plan which He is Playing out -----and His Plan right from Genesis to Revelation was in the works before He Created this Earth and everything in it ----including His Human Creation -----

Spiritual Understanding of the Creation Scripture ---starts you on your way to understanding God's future Plan -----

God's word is not about physics ----in my view

It is about the Spiritual Understanding of God's Plan of Agape---and reaping the Spiritual benefits that God offers to his True Followers ---to live in the World He created and we Messes up ------ Like---great peace --joy ---health ---- happiness ---self control ----no stress ---protection from your enemies ---prosperity ----and more ----by our Spiritual understanding and obeying His word and doing what He says --

Is this not just "one" way on a stick with two ends? Who decides on the dirty end ... those of great avarice to control the cursed gift? Indicated a vast duality ... divine-ated ... spltz right down the middle as one means of dealing it out ...

Look the tree over closely for where the divide begins causing considerable crotchy-ness ... and grumpy old folk! Happens when one falls close, or far from the tree with a spell cast upon it ... that far away stare!

It is a story. Story may be factual, or not exactly, but it's always TRUE. On some important level, but rarely the kind of truth that makes you want to head off backwards in time with recording equipment to verify the facts.
