Good job Seeler. Just popping in to say that our local library allows local authors to present their book, as a free service. They provide a small room and chairs, author talks about their book and sells some. Oh yes, someone provides coffee and light snack foods. Someone also does some local advertising - posters in library and on suitable bulletin boards around town.. Here that means the grocery stores and one of the coffee venues. Might be worth checking as a sales venue for you that may not be very intimidating.
 
I've had excellent feedback from many of the people who have read it. No one has been negative - but then I don't think anybody will come up to me and say 'I hated your book'. One person told me that it needed a map. I agree. Others have mentioned getting out their atlas or a wall map and checking Franklin's route and some of the places I've mentioned.
And I've had a request for a sequel (and a suggestion for it). I have no inclination to write one - but I'm gratified that they would want more about the people I tried to make 'real' for them.

I felt it was pretty complete so I'm not sure where you would go with a sequel. Then again, I feel that way about a lot of media properties that get sequels nonetheless. :rolleyes: That people want one, though, is a good sign. It means the characters and their stories engaged them in some way.
 
Seeler, have you heard about a company called Adventure Canada? They do primarily arctic cruises, including northwest passage trips.......

They take authors on trips, margaret atwood has gone, as well as other experrts.

Perhaps send them a copy of your book and maybe you might get a nibble
 
I just finished last night and I enjoyed it. Great descriptions. I echo the inclusion of a map in the next edition!

He said definately send it in. They might not be able tto use yiu as a guest artist on a grip but they might be able to promote your book on the trips

Yes he does. He writes for them, brochures, logs..... And then he is also crew on the ships. So far he has been on two, one around labrador and one to greenland and the artic. Think it was called arctic safari

But i expect he will do four trips this summer. Pretty cool job.

Seeler if you look at the web site they take guest artists o all grips, though of course this year is already planned. I have no idea how they pick people, many are very well known. Margaret Attwood for example, but he was interested to see your book

Sorry, it is only available locally. I would love to have book stores across Canada carry it, but that only happens when the publisher is established or has money to promote it.
If you are interested I can send you a book. They sell for $15.00 and postage is $5.00. Several people on WonderCafe have made arrangements for me to send one. Others have ordered through Amazon.com
