Possibly the source of that attribute of a man with only one paddle in the pool ... just a single Q?

Then there are space dust settling on the earth at indeterminate rates estimated at 100 - 300 MM Tons per day ... obviously falls Nous if this is in your head and not something drawn from the surroundings ...

Of those, food will be the biggest problem.

Water isn't an issue on either world. They both have it by the tankful. We just have to mine and melt ice (and Mars may still have liquid water in some areas and seasons).

Depending on the type of rocket we use, we may be able to synthesize the fuel (many rockets can burn liquid hydrogen, which can be obtained from water).

For power generation (for both habitats and vehicles), both are close enough to the sun that we could use solar or else use hydrogen fuel cells, again using water so no need for importing fuel there either.

That said, colonizing the moon first would give us a good base for supporting operations further out, both for resources and as a waypoint where the lower gravity will allow for lower thrust rockets to be used. Basically, establish a base on the moon and then launch to Mars and beyond from there.

I think Musk should put his money where his mouth is and volunteer to be on the first mission. He is getting more cocky and arrogant all the time IMHO.
