Just remembering how this thread started. Each of us is in a different place and that place changes over time and circumstances. I sense a bit of growing frustration and anger on this thread. I suspect I was experiencing a bit of that myself and feel sad that my emotions got a bit in the way.
Some people are in situations where they need to hang on to what they believe and others are in situations where they want to broaden or deepen their faith or spirituality.
I like looking at what other religions have to offer as they help me refine what I believe as a follower of Jesus and clarify why and what I believe.
I have forgotten exactly what the first post was, but I believe it was about how each religion has something to offer to those who follow it.
My invitation is for us to identify what our beliefs offer to us.

AmenIt's got everything to do with whether that faith/beliefs/values causes you to evolve/devolve in terms of kindness.
I agree with this, wholeheartedly. If your religious experience opens your heart and expands your mind, if it somehow showcases the oneness of the human family, it serves its mission well. If your religious experience simply leads you to draw lines in the sand, and try to separate 'we' and 'they.' maybe you should re-examine it.I really don't think it matters your religion. It's got everything to do with whether that faith/beliefs/values causes you to evolve/devolve in terms of kindness.
Christians at the extreme ends of the theological spectrum don't always show much respect or even tolerance for each other.BetteTheRed -----you said ----how do YOU think you're doing in the kindness department?
Well this statement goes right back at you -------How do you think your doing in that department ---calling what Jesus did for you Torture Porn ---and then claiming to be a Christian ----how kind and nice is that -----all the while mocking the very heart of Christianity --Just saying
Christians at the extreme ends of the theological spectrum don't always show much respect or even tolerance for each other.
I always think there is more balance at the middle of the spectrum. But as one who identifies as a middle of the road type, maybe I am completely wrong about this.
