So, I guess the question in the context of the thread is, is that a centrist position? A liberal one? Hard to say. I mean, the goal is still to eliminate or minimize the use of abortion, but it is done with a view to doing so by making life and birth better and safer, not by criminalizing anyone.
And is it a theological position or a political/social one? I would suggest the latter but such positions can still be informed by one's theological/spiritual position. For instance, I would suggest that believing in a harsh, legalistic God is going to produce harsh, legalistic political/social positions. A belief in a caring, merciful, forgiving God is going to move one towards a less judgmental, more merciful position in other areas.
