Centrist theology

My point of view is that society has a responsibility to reduce the need for abortions, not punish women who unwilingly become pregnant. Putting love and kindness into practice includes lifting up the status of women, ending rape culture, improving sex Ed, and providing more support for families.
Yeah, that's my stance as well. I would also add easy access to free or inexpensive birth control to the list, which then supports the sex ed piece. In the end, having a society where women are respected and every child is wanted and healthy is what will reduce abortions to just rare medically necessary ones (by which I include ones due to rape).

So, I guess the question in the context of the thread is, is that a centrist position? A liberal one? Hard to say. I mean, the goal is still to eliminate or minimize the use of abortion, but it is done with a view to doing so by making life and birth better and safer, not by criminalizing anyone.

And is it a theological position or a political/social one? I would suggest the latter but such positions can still be informed by one's theological/spiritual position. For instance, I would suggest that believing in a harsh, legalistic God is going to produce harsh, legalistic political/social positions. A belief in a caring, merciful, forgiving God is going to move one towards a less judgmental, more merciful position in other areas.

I would add to that more laws that make the Male more responsible financially with less hassle once DNA is involved.

Unless youre mormon or a religion that holds women inferior while stating they are actually elevating women by protecting them with different rules for their own good.

I've never found their conception of God as benign as they seem to present. Don't get me wrong, I have never met a Mormon I didn't like (we had LDS members in our neighbourhood and I used to cover their paper route when they were away) but their theology isn't what I would call "centrist". They are fairly conservative, just a bit more reasonable and pragmatic about it than some of the evangelical mob. Let's just say I would happily take Mitt Romney over most of the other GOP crowd. Too bad he seems to have given up on getting into the White House.
