Is there anything more efficient at fouling their bed than excessively assertive mortals?

A bit off topic, but related; the chap that lead our service this morning related a story of a dispute between a couple in Pennsylvania ... one half of that couple believed that Canada had no military ... perhaps we are ruled by the underground partisans? Imagine the crap those down there believe about people from the colder clime ...

Its enough to send chills somewhere ... ending in the nowhere of psyche! This is mentally taxing ... as those of us with any knowledge are taxed to death so we cannot be critical of power! Appears ignorant to me but then ignorant processes exist and few wish to know the reason ...

Just remember that Jean Chretien signed NAFTA, not Mulroney, even if it was negotiated under the latter. Liberals are no innocents.on that front. And who can blame them? With the world's largest (at the time) market right next door, it is the easy way to expand our economy. Trains and trucks are a lot cheaper to ship stuff than container ships, as would be needed for trade with Europe and Asia.

EDIT: Misremembered that. Chretien negotiated a couple supplemental agreements after being elected in 1993 after running on a campaign to renegotiate or abrogate it. So he didn't sign the original NAFTA, but certainly accepted it largely as is by agreeing to those supplemental agreements rather than a full-on renegotiation.
 
Didn't appreciate Carney's unnecessary and untrue dig at Toronto. I'm now leaning more toward supporting Singh

Care to post a link to a story containing the quote so we can make up our own minds about it? In a quick scan of early election news, I mostly saw people taking swipes at each other and Trump, not Toronto.

I have not been following the news all afternoon but I did hear something about Myers. My real point is that if you're saying something like that about a candidate in the election, it never hurts to provide some backup, esp. in the modern world of social media where a lot of nonsense gets spread precisely because of a lack of backup and fact checking.

Would agree with you except that, as I have already said, the video has been all over social media. And, as I have already said, I'll share the quote once I reach home. Patience, Mendalla

I think he’s - while a legit fan - reclaiming the Oilers as a distinctly Canadian team after Gretzky’s support of Trump. And Alberta Premier Allison whatshername’s. He needs Albertans on side.

And Mike Myers mouthed and motioned “elbows up” on SNL while gathered on stage with the cast a week or two ago. Maybe he did it again last night?

The skit was about Carney commenting that Mike M lives in the US now and this was a test of whether he was a true Canadian. Of course Myers passed the test. They could have picked almost anywhere in Canada and gotten a variation of that answer. Though, many parts further north would say something about 8 months of winter and 4 months of bad sledding weather.

Anyone who takes that as a slight against Toronto is being ridiculous.

It's clearly a dig at Toronto. The problem isn't so much Myers saying it as it is Carney's acceptance, approval, and wow! I don't expect anyone from outside Toronto to get why it matters. A Prime Minister needs to be a leader for all of Canada, including Toronto. And yes, that joke is often told about various places in Canada, but it's unnecessarily used against Toronto here

Toronto doesn't care. That there are two seasons in Toronto (winter and construction) is a joke Torontonians have been using amonst themselves as long as I can remember. Mike Myers can definitely use it, as he is a Toronto boy. Anyone in Canada can use it to make fun of Toronto because Toronto is the dominant city in Canada. Good natured ribbing is fine in pretty much all contexts where small makes fun of big.

This is a political ad that supports a candidate but also rallies the country. "Elbows up" is a hockey term that was not made with a rhyme generator and does not use the word "f***", while also not targeting the opposition but meant instead, and being taken, as a rally cry.

Being a representative of Toronto while taking offense to a common Toronto joke just makes you look petty. Like you've historically done whenever you're going through a rough patch here.

I could join the group simply putting you on "ignore" and write you off, or I could tell you you're doing it again and please stop.

Please stop.
